Mr *** arrived with his car on a flatbed truck the morning of January 20th 2016, around 10am After the car was unloaded, I asked him if he knew what mods were on the car and how many miles were on it The limit of the conversation was the parts he knew and that "it had miles" on
a new motor built at another shop There was no further discussion of possible issues or request for additional work at this time The car started and idled, I moved it from where it had been unloaded to our dyno station and loaded the car and began strapping it down At this point he restated what he knew about some of the parts and the builder of the motor being a little more specific Again at this time there was no mention of issues, he had allegedly "gone thru the car" in the prior week before bringing it to us
I put an initial tune file on the car, which is our standard operating procedure, and started accelerating the car up through the gears much as you would on the street The dyno allows the wheels to turn while the car can remain stationary secured with straps I brought the speed of the car up to 65-70mph in 5th gear and noticed in the mirror what I thought to be smoke I stopped the dyno rollers (bringing the car to a stop) and then got out to investigate There was no smoke at idle, so I thought I had either seen something or saw steam/condensation in the exhaust possibly I noticed a vibration at 1500rpm but as it disappeared fairly fast I presumed it was tire balance issue and then proceeded to the first dyno test
I brought the car up to 35mph in 3rd gear and began a dyno pull, boost failed to build and roughly seconds into the pull the car started to smoke and this time I was able to quickly confirm that it was smoke and shut the car off There was only one pull on the car at full throttle, the rest was driving At this time I explained what happened and the customer was "excited" because he had a reason to get a new turbo kit for the car He mentioned all he had to do was sell his other car and he would go ahead and buy one He then showed me his "shopping list" of parts that he had been looking at buying
The car was pulled off the dyno at this time and moved over to the shop where I could start to begin the diagnosis of what specifically had failed After pulling the air intake off it was obvious that the turbocharger was broken and would need replaced This is not something that just breaks in seconds This part was worn out and most likely failed when the prior motor had failed He assured us he was just going to replace the turbocharger with a complete turbocharger kit and left the premises with a friend in another car
Later he informed us that he bought another used turbo to install We did this after receiving it a week or so after the initial event When the car was reassembled we went to move it out of the shop and could feel the vibration again Quick investigation revealed that it disappeared if the clutch was depressed After conferring with the customer he said that he bought an inexpensive clutch and flywheel off of Ebay and had installed that He came and picked the car up to take care of the issue shortly after that The customer was only charged for the initial inspection verify the turbo failure and then the removal and replacement of the turbocharger that he supplied He wasnt charged for the dyno time, the basemap tune that was installed on the car, or the few minutes spent to diagnose the vibration coming from the clutch that Mr *** had installed
We refused service to this customer when he returned, decided to exercise his free speech, and made it apparent that he wasnt someone that we were going to keep dealing with because of his attitude (him texting us a picture of a release form and then threatening us with Revdex.com action if we didnt comply) His initial downpayment for transmission work was refunded and he was asked to take his car somewhere else Under "talked to company (3rd)" this would be when he brought the car back to have his transmission work done It was not concerning any of the prior work we had done We havent done any drivetrain work to Mr *** car, tuning on his car at this point, and only briefly diagnosed the cause of his vibration The diagnosis and replacement of his supplied turbocharger doesnt seem to be in dispute here from his statement which is the only work that we have done to his car at this time
Thank you
Aaron

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: Everything you are saying is not the truth and I won’t let you think you can fool me or anyone for that matter and get away with thisLet me clarify and set the story straight
•"The car started and idled" -This is false, if the car started and idled properly prior to me bringing it to English Racing it wouldn't have came on a tow truckI installed an aftermarket air intake on the car which required tuning to make it run and idle correctly.•"Again at this time there was no mention of issues" -I have a witness that can testify and repeat word for word what problems I told Aaron about when I first arrived there, Aaron himself got in the car and turned it over and had it die on himHe then turned it over again and revved my car up to keep it alive which then he proceeded to the dyno station•"I noticed a vibration at 1500rpm but as it disappeared fairly fast I presumed it was tire balance issue"-English Racing didn't say anything about the vibration until a week after my turbo was blownThey put the turbo I provided on and called me and informed me about a vibration possibly coming from the flywheel•"At this time I explained what had happened and the customer was "excited" because he had a reason to get a new turbo kit for the car" -I was excited? NoI would love to see proof of any sort that I was "excited" about my turbo going out, that is absolutely absurd if anyone would be happy about replacing any expensive part on their car•"Later he informed us that he bought another used turbo to install"-This is false, I never stated I bought another turboMy direct words were I got another turbo to install, never said I bought one•"After conferring with the customer he said that he bought an inexpensive clutch and flywheel off of eBay and had that installed"-I never said that I bought the clutch that was installed on the car previous to bringing it in, so I would love to see his proof of thatThe previous owner had a local mechanic put it in when it was in his possession, his story is blasphemous•"He wasn't charged for the dyno time, the base map tune that was installed on the car" and this quote "We haven't done any drivetrain work to Mr ***'s car, tuning on his car at this point" -He is contradicting himself with these two direct quotes here, he states that I didn't pay for the base map tune but said they didn't do any tuning on my carWhat are invoices and dyno data logs gonna show Aaron? Please, enlighten meYour witnesses are your co workers who are gonna read the script you hand themAsking you what I should buy and my "shopping list" has nothing to do with any of this, I asked you for your opinionYou are apart of a business, a business doesn't seek to lose its reputation, your responses are ludicrousThis quote here, "While not "raising" his voice he has on multiple occasions copped an attitude via texts to personal (not business) cell phones and Facebook messages" Show me the proof of texts where I copped an attitude, and show me these "Facebook messages"I would love to see them Aaron, I never once contacted English racing through Facebook and never copped an attitude over the phone so I'll be waiting here for that proofI have all the text messages between Lucas and I still saved so I can provide proof myselfLucas copped an attitude with me and hung up the phone on me as well as blocked my number when I questioned what was going on with my carI won't sit here and listen to your accusations towards meI have video evidence of you Aaron blowing up my turbo and videos after it blew up of you revving up my car and doing dyno runsYour story doesn't add up at all, and I won't let that go unnoticed. Sincerely,*** ***

I have all of the invoices, dyno datalogs, and proof to support my statements concerning Mr [redacted].  I have multiple witnesses that can attest to him bragging about buying a turbo kit, him asking me what he should buy, showing me his "shopping list" on his phone, etc.  If [redacted] has a receipt for the tune to prove he paid for anything related to the dyno that would be great to see.  If I was inclined to have him come out to our shop with his car I could pull the map off and compare it my library of tunes.  As you can see by his above his response, while not "raising" his voice he has on multiple occassions copped an attitude via texts to personal (not business) cell phones and facebook messages.  He is seeking resolution for a previously broken turbo that we discovered in the early stages of a "tune" in the form of transmission work.  Since this isnt related to anything we have charged for I fail to see why this is continuing.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: In the first paragraph Aaron stated "There was no further discussion of possible issues" When I arrived there on January 20th an unloaded my car off the truck I specifically told him there was an aftermarket cold air intake on the car making the car die after a couple seconds which he himself experienced when he got in the car. That was one of the problems stated I also said there was coolant leaks as well as boost leaks which he knew about going into the dyno testing. After my turbo blew he said I was "excited" about it and had a reason to get another one. Why would anyone be "excited" about their turbo going out on their car? I spent 13,000$ on that car and I'm supposedly happy about spending 5,500 on a new turbo kit. Another point of mine is, after my turbo had gone out Aaron did two more dyno runs which I have video evidence of. This could have furthered the damage. My car didn't come in with that vibration and supposedly he heard it on the dyno but I was told after the dyno testing and inspection to just get a new turbo and I would be good to go. Aaron also said that I bought and installed the clutch that was on the car but the previous owner I bought it from had it installed by a local mechanic up in Camas, Wa by the name of Fred. Aaron in the response said that I didn't pay for the base map tune that was installed on my car but in his final paragraph said that they haven't done any tuning on my car at this point. His story sounds a little peculiar to me. They said I exercised my free speech but I never raised my voice nor said anything profane in the shop/office or to anyone. Lucas has raised his voice and hung up on me on the phone which is totally unprofessional for a business owner. Another thing, they put a new coolant hose on my car with a kink in it so there was minimal coolant flow, that doesn't sound fly by with me when I pay a shop rate of 100$ an hour. I asked about the liability form cause it was hanging up in the lobby with multiple copies of it so it obviously wasn't "for show" like Atif had told me when I was there. They are liable for my car while it is in their hands unless I signed otherwise, which I didn't.Sincerely, [redacted]
