Signed up for a wax past and opted to make monthly payments. Made the first payment of $243. One month later the next payment was due to be automatically withdrawn but I had not had a chance to update the payment info after the bank informed me of fraud on my account and reissued a new debit card number. I decided I could not afford the payments anyways and asked if I could apply the 243 toward one time services (would have covered two visits....I had not used the pass at all at this point ). When I called to schedule an appointment they said I didnt have any credit on my account because I had missed my second payment. EWC is such a rip off to begin with, yet ive been getting waxed regularly for a few years now and have even purchased a pass (paid in full up front too) in the past. Regardless of being (what id consider) a regular and loyal customer, they did not refund my $243 AND I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SERVICE OR PRODUCT. they are very good about not mentioning their ridiculous refund policy. Its impossible to call a store/manager directly and they do call back within 24-48 hours but heaven forbid you miss the call because I dont know...you are working or are a student and dont know when you should expect a call to be ready to answer because if you call right back you have to repeat the headache of not being able to speak to the manager that just called. Ridiculous!! Very rude girls at the call center...corrine from the call center for the newport beach california location even hung up on me because I was kept trying to reach the manager that was supposed to be assisting me with the whole refund issue (AND THEY JUST SAY THEY ARE WORKING WITH YOU AND ARE ON YOUR SIDE TRYING TO HELP AND MY SATISFACTION IS THEIR PRIORITY...WHAT A JOKE...they have a script...when customer says/asks this...you always respond with .....you get the point. Ashley the manager from newport beach was not helpful, rude, nearly impossible to reach...always busy manning the front desk because she was "the only one there" (on more than one occasion) hmmmm under staffed? Not good for attracting new customers and keeping good customers! She also said the best they could do would be to refund me 193 of 243 I had paid and I DID NOT USE ANY SERVICES OR VISITED ONCE USING THE WAX PASS SO I DO NOT FEEL IT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE TO NOT REFUND 100%. the policy /fee was never disclosed until after the fact. The whole $25 cancellation fee after 30 days is also bull. If on the payment plan, payment number two isnt even due/processed any sooner than one month after the first payment was processed. So by the time they went to process the second payment and it did not go through...instead of cancelling and refunding first payment (no services rendered). There was fraud on my bank account...I have proof and it can also be obtained from us bank, and they issued a new card, old one was deactivated...it was a headache and took time to get the new card etc. By the time I had received the new card and had started updating the info with services, companies that I had set up automatic withdrawal for paying bills, online bill pay, etc. EPW had already tried to process payment number two. I received the new bank/debit card info after this point but little did I know that now my account was "on hold" "delinquent"....AGAIN no services had been rendered...EWC had my 243 in limbo...I couldnt get it refunded nor could I used it toward single visits and products. They just had my money and werent going to give it back without getting as much as they could out of it first. I didnt receive, read, sign any agreement/contract. I did review the refund policy after I was told id be charged a cancellation fee. However ashley from the newport beach california location gave me INFORMATION THAT IS NOT IN AGREEMENT WITH EWC CANCELLATION POLICY. SHE SAID AFTER 30 DAYS, A CANCELLATION FEE OF $50 HAD BEEN ASSESSED AND OF THE 243 I HAD PAID AND NOT RECEIVED ANY SERVICE OR PRODUCT FOR IN RETURN AT THAT POINT I WOULD ONLY RECEIVE 193. ALSO I WOULDNT BE RECEIVING A REFUND OF 193 BUT JUST A STORE CREDIT. ARE YOU KIDDING? Shocking! I then went online and started reading all the policies and the policy states something very different. A $25 cancellation policy applies after 30 days. It SAYS NOTHING ABOUT A $50 FEE OR $25 AFTER 30 DAYS AND AN ADDITIONAL 25 AFTER THE NEXT 30 DAYS. IT STATES SIMPLY $25 AFTER 30 DAYS. after 30 days means 31 days or 150 days. There is nothing stating the fee would be assessed each month thereafter. so yeah, I was lied to, ripped off, shown horrible customer service and am disgusted by this company and am bummed that they treat customers...and I have forked out plenty of money over the past few years already and still...they want to take more money AND FOR WHAT?! I NEVER EVEN USED MY WAX PASS (THE SECOND PASS I HAD PURCHASED TOO...FIRST ONE I PAID IN FULL UP FRONT). I used to recommend EWC to everyone interested in getting waxed and wasnt planning on going anywhere until this experience. I highly recommend NOT going to EWC and am fully disgusted by how this whole situation was handled. Sad that money hungry business/franchises and franchise owners have no moral/ethical standards by which they abide. I lost all respect for this company and would not want to be associate with, a customer of, or pay any money ever again to such a company. Wanna get ripped off? EWC is for you. Otherwise, I DO NOT RECOMMEND EUROPEAN WAX CENTER AND HOPE THIS HAS HELPED THOSE WHO PREFER NOT BEING RIPPED OFF. Dont go to the NEWPORT BEACH CA EWC...better yet...youre better off CHOOSING A DIFFERENT COMPANY ENTIRELY. EWC...SAD DAY.
