Extreme Paintball Store

The customer came in with a paintball marker that is approximately 13-15 years old. He paid $24.95 for a repair. We did replace the seals, cleaned and lubricated the marker. When he came to pick it up we put air on it and showed him that it worked properly with no leaks or issues. At this time he presented his co2 tanks which, based on DOT laws are only good for 5 years from their born on date. Thus, we could not fill his tank since it was expired. We advised him of this and showed him his options for new tanks. We told him the price and that we sell them full with Co2 and that we even give punch cards for additional free refills. He took his repaired marker and left, he was very angry that we wouldn’t fill his co2 tank. It is against DOT law to fill expired tanks so we are merely following the law. A few days later he did come back and buy 2 co2 tanks which we filled and gave him and he took home. The customer came back over the weekend with his tanks and the marker very upset that it was leaking. He was very aggressive and almost to the point of being hostile, even other customers in the store were shocked at the way he was speaking. I explained to him that there is not a ‘warranty’ on repair service, that we showed him it was in good working condition before he left and that with old markers they can break or have other issues at any time. The item he has is very old and there is no way we can predict when it might have other issues. I thought maybe the tank might have had an issue that caused the gun to leak and suggested that to which he yelled at me that it wasn’t the tank. I would have liked to put the tank on the gun to see if it was something that was a quick/easy fix because sometimes it is just a simple o-ring but he was so angry that he grabbed his items off the counter and left. I honestly barely had a chance to speak as he came in mad and when I told him there was not a warranty on labor repairs he became extremely agitated. I do not know of any business that does repairs that will just continuously work on something when different issues arise. We did not sell him a service plan, we provided the one time service as listed for our basic $24.95 service. He paid only $24.95 for this service so I am not sure where his dollar amount came from he listed. We have been in business over 16 years. Our goal is always to provide the best service possible and help our customers the best we possibly can. Unfortunately in this instance I feel this person came in angry and aggressive each time he was in our store and I don’t know that anything we did would have satisfied him. I can provide his receipt showing what he paid if needed. We keep track in our POS by customer name as well as electronic work order for repairs.
