Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Point number 1, the car was not brought to Family Auto initially, to fix a broken axelIt was brought in to replace a worn bearingThe job was quoted, not estimated, at $I was perfectly satisfied with that repairMy issue with Family Auto, is that during the course of that repair, irreparable damage was caused to the drive axelMrA*** claims he cannot be responsible to fix something that was broken, yet he did fix the worn hubThe issue now lies with the damage to the drive axelOnce again, it was in perfect working order before his technicians damaged itHis shop made two attempts to repair that damage, essentially admitting culpability to that damageSee receipt attachmentPer *** recommendation, see attachment, the axel is damaged beyond repair and must be replacedThere is, and never was, a way to repair the axelIt was to be replaced and Family Auto refuses to do so at their expenseBoth times we mentioned axel replacement, he implied that I would have to cover the cost of the axelThis to me is not fair and does not follow proper business ethics which is what prompted me to contact The Revdex.comIn conclusion, Family Auto and I do agree on one point...that I do not trust their shop to perform any more work on my vehiclesAll I am asking for is reimbursement of the extra $bill he charged me for the shotty repair that his negligence caused and for reimbursement to repair the axel

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Dear Sirs, At the risk of being redundant, I will do my best to succinctly describe our transaction... After dropping the car off Sat evening, being assured the bearing would indeed be replaced by Sunday afternoon, I received a call from the shop, late Sunday, telling me they ran into a problem with the repair.  After explaining the damage to the axle threads (please see attached photos) the mechanic told me he tack welded the retaining nut onto the axle. I told him this was unacceptable, and I would arrive shortly to discuss a further course of action.  When I arrived, the owners son excused the mechanic, as he has 'anger issues', and he would explain what happened,  They collectively decided the tack weld was inadequate, so they further damaged the axle by drilling holes in it so a cotter pin could be used to maintain the integrity of the axle.  Again, I rejected this as an acceptable repair.  My wife and I both asked him if the car could be driven, and he said yes, but, the axle will need to be replaced soon.  He then handed me a bill for almost 200 dollars more than the original quote, claiming it took extra time to, essentially, try to fix a problem they caused.  I refused. John, the owner, called as this was being argued, and told me to pay the original quote, and he would discuss it further on Monday  morning with me.  That morning, he apologized profusely, admitting I should have been called as soon as it was clear the job would be above the mechanics ability, but was sticking by his crews repair, and his bill.  He agreed to look at the car Thursday of that week, my next day off, and give the car his personal attention, deciding if the axle could be salvaged.  That Thursday, he called me that the car was ready, I went in, He showed me taps and dies he used to cut new threads, assuring me the repair was better than new.  He used thread lock (glue) , a smaller nut, and the cotter pin, again, telling me the repair was  good.  Then he charged me another 90 dollars.  The next Thursday, still leery about the repair, I took the car to a [redacted] dealer, had them examine the axle, and they told me the same thing Johns son did, the axle would need to be replaced.  The retaining nut would not maintain the required torque to hold the axle in place, the threads were damaged beyond repair, and the remedies used by Family Auto were seriously inadequate. Welding and drilling create heat, heat is not good on any tempered steel, the  axle is tempered steel, therefore, the axle was deemed unrepairable.    This does not happen all the time.  Trained professional mechanics should not create more problems when solving existing ones. It was a 5 year old car. I highly doubt the axle was frozen in place on such a relatively new car.  I myself have removed axles and bearing from vehicles much older, and never damage an axle end. [redacted] books the job at 2.5 hrs because that's how long a reasonably experienced mechanic should take to make the repair, factoring in collecting tools for the job, time to remove parts, time to replace parts, ect..., The tire now has almost 2 full inches of verticle play, as the nut has loosened.  Please let me know if you need more photos of the axle end, or any other information regarding this complaint, Sincerely, [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com as I stated before we can't be at fault for breaking something that is already broken. I spoked to [redacted] on 2/19/2015 in the morning and he stated that he look at his ft wheel cause his abs light came on and that the wheel seem loose. I told him that we would look at this asap but being I read his complaint that he showed that he didn't trust us to see what was wrong he said that was true but was willing to give us a 2nd chance to resolve this problem.[redacted] also said that he found the axle on [redacted] and he didn't see why I didn't see this also. I told [redacted] that we went through all our sources but [redacted] is not one of them cause in the past the parts could be wrong or shipping could be delayed.[redacted] said if we get the axle he would be willing to have us fix the problemso we ordered the axle I called him back I even offer to give him a loaner to use as we did the first time he brought his car in for the repair as he failed to say and he was ok with this. Then [redacted] call back later and said he would rather get the axle at the dealer insted which we had to then stop the order before they ship the part.[redacted] seems he will not be happy till he gets the axle & labor for free. I feel anybody can say they could have fix this job for less and with no problems but i've been doing this for over 30 years and have seen many this not go right thats why we give people est not exact price's. I feel I tried to help [redacted] as much as we could but there seems to be no way we can.Thank You JOHN
