Review: 8/6/13 [redacted] ([redacted]) from [redacted] tried to fix catalytic converter in car. Car did not run. After keeping our car 2 weeks, he loaned us a rental for free while working on our car. He realized that the engine was damaged and it needed to be replaced. We asked him if he was comfortable replacing the engine. He said that he wanted to do it.He again allowed us use of the rental car while we waited 65 days for the new (rebuilt) engine to be installed. Our first problem arose after the new engine was installed and the car was still not working properly (it would not go in reverse). Bower Hill was forced to send it to [redacted] who fixed it for $377.36. The transmission was not broken before we sent it there (the transmission had just been replaced in 2009 and was working well since then), but we paid it anyway because we wanted our car back.10/11 We were finally told that the car was finished. We were charged $2502.38 (plus the $377.36 for the transmission) for a total of $2879.74. We know that this was a good price for a rebuilt engine, but, the car was still not working properly.1. The check engine light was still on. 2. The car was severely out of alignment. 3. The power steering was now making a strange noise and the AC was not working. 4. The steering wheel controls also were no longer were functioning. These controls include the radio, cruise control, and the horn. I feel uncomfortable driving the car with my children in it without a functioning horn.(Please see the attached document for the full details.)We took the vehicle in to [redacted] on with appointments set up by the mechanic on 10/16, 10/18, 10/31, 11/4, and 11/15. The vehicle was not fully repaired and sometimes not even touched on those days. Please see the attached document for full details.During the last time, the mechanic admitted per our phone conversation that he had an "incompetent" team. He delivered our car on 11/17, still not repaired. A receipt of service can be emailed upon request.Desired Settlement: We have given [redacted] ample opportunities to repair everything (10/16, 10/18, 10/31, 11/4, 11/15) and it has not been done. We need our car repaired for the safety of our children, our own safety, and we need to pass our PA inspection and emission this December, 2013. Because of their admitted "incompetence," we request that we take our vehicle to another mechanic to be completed (as Bower Hill should have completed it) and [redacted] pay the cost.
