We had been requested by a financial company to complete an appraisal on a property owned by the complainantThe appraisal was completed for the financial company and deliveredThe property owners were told at the time of inspection that they
would have to get a copy of the appraisal from the financial company who ordered the appraisalThey did not cancel the appraisal and the process was completed
If others, be it their broker or financial institution promised them a copy, it is a matter that should be directed to them and not the appraiser
The appraisal is under the control of the ordering financial companyTo release an appraisal without their consent and full disclosure is a violation of the Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and Code of Ethics and would be subject to disciplinary action most likely at both the Provincial Licensing level and National Levels of our professions governing bodies
Their complaint directed on this company is misguided and should be redirected to those who are in a position to be able to resolve their issues in this matter
Our position on this matter has never changed nor can it
