freeze form to freeze hermembership from locbruary , 2014 to March , 2014 in order to travel. (see enclosed)On April 18, 2014 member requested termination of her membership due to a ???? medical condition. Note from her doctor reads as follows: “[redacted] is under my care. She is being advised to refrain from strenuous exercise while her blood pressure is not optimally controlled.” (see enclosed)The members physician did not advise her not to exercise, but rather to refrain from strenuous exercise. In all the twenty years that our facility has operated we have never seen this be used as a medical condition to not exercise. On the contrary, people with high blood pressure are advised to cxercisc. Notwithstanding, we are releasing the member from the remaining obligation of her contract and no further charges will be made.If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.Regards,

Review: I submitted a medical certificate from my doctor saying that I am under the doctor's medical care for hypertension. I have informed the gym in two occasions that I would need to cancel my membership due to this condition. Twice they denied and even with a medical certificate they refuse to cancel my membership. I am not able to use the gym and I do not want to take any chance as in one instance I experienced palpitations. I've been under medication and under monitoring by my doctor.I do not understand the kind of goodwill they have on their clients. I find this really very unkind.I would appreciate your help. Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I am not asking for a refund even if I have not used their gym for a while. All I am asking is for cancellation of my membership so theydo not keep on debiting my credit card.Thank you.

Review: Both my spouse and I have documented medical issues that preclude us from using this facility. We are retired military medical professionals who understand our physical limitations. My injuries were due as a result of my significant combat service in the Middle East. This information was shared with Anastasia (Manager of the [redacted], Virginia facility), she informed me that she is not excusing us from the three remaining payments on the contract.Her reaction was not only unsympathetic but one that is not expected from someone working in the health fitness industry. She made no offer to waive the remaining fees for three months even though we have not used the gym for over a year. This is not an acceptable business practice or business that we recommend or endorse.Desired Settlement: Senior management of this corporate business must understand their existing policy of holding members who have medical issues and are unable to fully make use of the facilities to the full completion of the contract is not logical.
