Five Mile Auto Center Reviews (1)

Review: On 04/04/2013 your company ran a pressure test on my 1998 jeep grand cherokee and told me that the radiator needed to be replace since it was cracked and this would stop the leak. After paying almost $500.00 to have this repair done and being told that the leak was fixed, I find that the upper radiator hose now leaks according to your service department. I am at a lost to why there was no pressure test done after the radiator was replace to make sure that nothing else needed to be done. Now your company wants me to pay another $85.00 to fix the hose. Why should I have to pay for new hoses since this should have been done at the time the radiator was changed out, I am still wondering why a pressure test was not done after the radiator was replaced to make sure it was done right.Desired Settlement: I should receive a refund of $50.00 since your service department failed to do the job right. This is what it will cost me to have someone else do the job, correctly.

Dear Mr [redacted],

Complaint # 9499547

The customer did return her vehicle a week later and stated that her car was leaking coolant worse than before we replaced her radiator. She was concerned that there might be a charge for looking at this again and I assured her we would recheck our work and let her know what we found. We pressured system and found a hole in the upper radiator hose, This hole was from the inside out. That is the problem with cooling system hoses as they wear out from the inside which doesnt always show while being examined from the outside. At the time of repair the hose had not started to leak and with the radiator leaking the system had no pressure on it for a while. By correcting the leak at the radiator it was able to build more pressure and hose just wasnt in good enough condition to withstand the cooling system pressure and failed. These hoses are original which would make them 15 years old. They should have been replaced long ago. When the customer came in originally she had limited funds which I can understand, and we even discounted the radiator to allow this to be within here financal means. If I could of forseen this failure to happen so soon I would have tried to replace this hose but I dont think she had anymore funds for additional repairs.

I am willing to repair this for her at no expense to her. I do recommend replacing all the hoses as they are wearing out and would like that to be known.

Sincerly, [redacted]
