Review: I writing to the Revdex.com after trying to resolve this issue on my own for the past three months. I took my 13 year old daughter to [redacted] of Montgomery Foot and Ankle Associates on January 21, 2013 for an evaluation of her arches. I had been told previously by a specialized shoe store that she had flat feet and a tendency to roll in on her arches. I bought high quality arch support orthotics for her sneakers from the store. When it was time for new sneakers, I thought it best to seek out the recommendation of a podiatrist. Upon seeing the orthotics that my daughter was using, [redacted] confirmed that they were of good quality and agreed that, since she was still growing, expensive, custom orthotics were not necessary, and that this type of store bought orthotic was just fine. However, if my insurance covered the custom orthotics, that would obviously be better. The front desk got right on it. They came back and told me that my insurance fully covered the custom orthotics. Not only that, for a child, they said, my insurance covered new orthotics every six months. Well then, why not? Obviously the better choice, we went ahead with the molds for the custom orthotics. I have now been billed several times over the last three months for $574.00 ($287/foot). The office has re-submitted the claim a few times, but my insurance is continuing to deny coverage. I received a call today saying that [redacted] is willing to split the cost with me, so I'd only have to pay $287.00. The "perfectly fine" orthotics I was using for my daughter were $65. I find this whole thing completely unacceptable. The office assured me that my insurance covered everything. I trusted that they were doing their job with checking insurance policies for orthotics, of which I assumed they were quite familiar. As soon as they said she was covered, the custom molds of her feet were taken. The billing department, a separate entity, said this was not the first time this has happened with this office. Is this a scam?Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] and his staff to take full responsibility for their error and cover the full cost of the orthotics, $574.00.
