Ford Pavilion at Montage Mountain Reviews (3)

I am writing to notify you about an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience that my son and I had recently at The Pavilion at Montage MountainI had purchased tickets to attend the Luke Bryan concert on July 21, and surprised my year old son with a trip to Pennsylvania to see one of his favorite artists in concert This was to be a great mother-son trip, road trip from Western Mass topping off with the concert Unfortunately our experience at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain was less than pleasant In fact, it was a nightmareWe left the hotel at 5:to travel to the venue We thought we were leaving plenty of time for traffic, seeing as though the venue was only min away We got to the exit in about minutes and then sat in dead stopped traffic for over an hour and a half By the time we parked the opening band was on stageNow that we finally got through all the traffic things should improve, right? WRONG! There were shuttle buses to bring patrons to the concert site, but the wait would have been over an hour long, so knowing that the show had already started, we figured we could walk there faster We decided to walk and were told by a parking attendant that it was about a mileAs we left the parking lot, we overheard parking attendants talking to each other about the mess of the traffic and the parking They were asking each other if anyone had decided where they were planning to park the rest of the cars! It took us almost another hour to walk to the venue -- uphill!! (After Googling it when we got home -- it's almost miles!) When we got to the top, we found that there was employee parking at the top -- they could have bused their employees up the mountain and saved about 80-spots for concert goers! AND, there was VIP parking at the top that we weren't even offered! By now my son was starving! Had we known that we would be this late, we would have grabbed something on the way We got in line for food and waited for almost an hour -- for cheeseburgers and a soda! We arrived in our seats at 8:32! We totally missed Dustin Lynch, and only heard songs from Little Big Town We certainly didn’t get our money's worth or have near the experience we anticipated! The only thing that was good about the whole night was the fact that Luke Bryan played for an hour and a half and put on a great show (as always!) When the show was over, we got in line for the shuttle bus After a few minutes, police came from every direction -- there was a fight in front of us and a fight behind us My son was terrified and just wanted to go, so even though we knew how long of a walk it was, we walked back down to the parking lot in the dark! I am writing to notify you about an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience that my son and I had recently at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain.
I had purchased tickets to attend the Luke Bryan concert on July 21, 2016 and surprised my 11 year old son with a trip to Pennsylvania to see one of his favorite artists in concert. This was to be a great mother-son trip, road trip from Western Mass topping off with the concert. Unfortunately our experience at the Pavilion at Montage Mountain was less than pleasant. In fact, it was a nightmare.
We left the hotel at 5:10 to travel to the venue. We thought we were leaving plenty of time for traffic, seeing as though the venue was only 22 min away. We got to the exit in about 15 minutes and then sat in dead stopped traffic for over an hour and a half. By the time we parked the opening band was on stage.
Now that we finally got through all the traffic things should improve, right? WRONG! There were shuttle buses to bring patrons to the concert site, but the wait would have been over an hour long, so knowing that the show had already started, we figured we could walk there faster. We decided to walk and were told by a parking attendant that it was about a mile.
As we left the parking lot, we overheard parking attendants talking to each other about the mess of the traffic and the parking. They were asking each other if anyone had decided where they were planning to park the rest of the cars! It took us almost another hour to walk to the venue -- uphill!! (After Googling it when we got home -- it's almost 3 miles!) When we got to the top, we found that there was employee parking at the top -- they could have bused their employees up the mountain and saved about 80-100 spots for concert goers! AND, there was VIP parking at the top that we weren't even offered!
By now my son was starving! Had we known that we would be this late, we would have grabbed something on the way. We got in line for food and waited for almost an hour -- for 2 cheeseburgers and a soda!
We arrived in our seats at 8:32! We totally missed Dustin Lynch, and only heard 2 songs from Little Big Town. We certainly didn’t get our money's worth or have near the experience we anticipated!
The only thing that was good about the whole night was the fact that Luke Bryan played for an hour and a half and put on a great show (as always!)
When the show was over, we got in line for the shuttle bus. After a few minutes, police came from every direction -- there was a fight in front of us and a fight behind us. My son was terrified and just wanted to go, so even though we knew how long of a walk it was, we walked back down to the parking lot in the dark! The only light was the occasional light from cars coming down the hill. We arrived back at our room at 1:00 AM, from a concert that let out at 11:00.
Someone that we talked with at the hotel the next morning said they didn't even get out of the parking lot until 2:00 AM!
I have done my research and discovered many reviews describing similar experiences as ours.
Here are just a couple.
Worst venue ever. Arrived 1 & ½ hours early to Luke Bryan concert last night and finally got to the show 2 hours late. Missed the entire pre show and only arrived just in time to see Luke Bryan. We were forced to park at the bottom of the hill at the Rail Riders parking lot and wait 1 & ½ hours in line to be shuttled up the mountain. When the show was over, we ended up walking 3.5 miles down the hill (we were not allowed to walk up before the concert) because the line for the shuttle was over an hour long. There was no lighting for walking alongside of the road, but it was still easier getting out than getting in. I will never come back, and I recommend that nobody else ever go there. Terrible organization and nobody cared that they were making you hours late.

I've been here on several occasions for the Rockstar Mayhem Festival and we usually park away from the venue and walk, always having a good time. However I was with my wife last night to see Luke Bryan. Traffic getting there was backed up, I expected that but not to the degree that they had as we ended up missing half of the pre-show that we paid for simply because they were disorganized and didn't have enough parking for the event. So I proceeded to park in the parking lot. The absolute worst idea ever. As good as the show was, there is absolutely NO reason I should spend 90 minutes in a parking lot waiting to get out, moving 2 ft every ten minutes. Half of the staff there were high school/college kids doing nothing but fooling around (one of them was literally playing with the traffic-directing glow stick like it was a sword) and talking to girls instead of directing traffic. Cars ended up all in different directions, people got side-swiped and there was NO movement for over an hour. It got so bad the Police had to come to direct cars and only then did movement begin. Leaving the parking lot completely ruined the night, and from the looks of other reviews, this seems to be a common thing. Management needs to seriously do something about organizing better entry and exit strategies for parking so that it flows better because customers spend a lot of money on tickets and merchandise to fill their pockets, so we do not deserve to be subjected to such incompetence, and I can see they clearly don't care as they can't even be bothered to respond/apologize to negative reviews. After this I do not think I will be going back.
I also learned that the venue released 100 tickets for the SOLD OUT concert on the day of the concert. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
It is clear that your establishment was in no way concerned about the experience of its patrons and just wanted to make as much money as possible.
This kind of experience is unacceptable and unprofessional. No patron should have to endure this treatment and negative experience. It certainly does not give a good reputation to this establishment. From the sounds of the reviews, many complaints have already been ignored by their customer relations department. I am also sending letters to the The Pavilion at Montage Mountain, Luke Bryan Fan Club, the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and Scranton Mayor’s Office.
