On Friday March 21, 2014, my family and I attended Frida's Restaurante Mexicano for a birthday dinner. We had a party of twenty. We was seated on the second floor. As we began to eat spiders dropped down from the ceiling. I notified the manager of the spiders, he rushed over. He told us to be quiet or he would put us out. I stated why? He replied, I am the owner I can do whatever I want to do. He grabbed the webs of the spiders stepped on them and walked off. Instead of leaving, we decided to finish our dinner. As we were socializing amongst our party, one of the servers walked by and stated, why don't yall just shut up. I noticed the owner starring at my party. I raised my hand and he walked over to me. I informed the owner of his server remarks towards us. He replied, if he told yall to shut up then yall need to shut up. I was shocked by his reply. I stated, we not the only ones talking in this restaurant. I said we are all adults, why are you telling us to shut up? He replied, that is why he didn't want "black people" in his restaurant, because we too loud. I admit I was angered by his remarks. I asked him was he insane? He yelled get out and blurted out the word [redacted]. I admit I got loud back with him, but I left. This was a racist act and shouldn't be tolerated. I am deeply sadden that this establishment racially profiled us. I feel that the public shouldn't support any establishment that displays racism. As a group we spent 400 dollars to this restaurant, I will never attend this place again.Product_Or_Service: food and beveragesDesired SettlementI was told that the manager was not the owner. Everything seemed fine, until the balcony door was opened, and I, the owner of Fridas, who have been upstairs making sure everyone is being accommodated and seated, see a web with a spider on it flying in due to the breeze coming from the open door. I see and hear the party freak out and I approach the party in a calm manner and say "Please calm down because you are scaring everyone in here by being too loud for something so small." I explained to one of the members of the party what happened. As you opened the door, the wind caused it to blow in here, I said. Everyone seemed fined and happy again. The spider never touched their food, the table, nor anyone at the party table. After an hour the got a little rowdy and other guests were complaining about it. Therefore, their server asked them to lower their voices down three times. Someone from the party asks for a manager, and so I came to them to see what I could do for them. One gentlemen asks me why do they have to be quitter when everyone else is being loud?. I explained him that we had complaints on the language they were using at their table and were too loud about it. He didn't want to hear that and started to use foul language towards me. I told him I was the owner and asked him to calm down. He told me "You don't tell me to calm down [redacted] Go get my other pitcher of margarita." I refused to sell him another one because he was already out of control. He did not like that and seemed very mad about it. When I asked if he could pay his tap and leave he got more upset. Started to use more foul language and when I asked him again to leave he said no and then other people from the party had me cornered like if they were going to beat me. As other waiters and staff came to pull me out because the whole party had me cornered they left yelling and saying that we are racist. Our restaurant is not racist because seventy percent of our customers are african american and we have employees that are african american. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I don't accept this poor untrue response. If we were being so rowdy, we would have went to jail. There were police inside the restaurant. Amongst my party, I had a group of diverse professional workers. Some of them worked for the city, some nurses. This restaurant profiled us. We sat on the inside not a balcony "no window opening", so spiders didn't just blow in. There is no excuse for racism. Just because African Americans patronize or work for your establishment doesn't mean you are not racist. Plantations workers had owners who were indeed racist.
