Review: Dr.Gardner's office contacted me after an emergency visit I had regarding a kidney stone. I was to contact him, not the other way around.I am unemployed and uninsured at this time and communicated that to the person on the phone the day they called. She said Dr.Gardner wanted to see me and take and x-ray to see where the kidney stone was. This was 1 day after my emergency visit and on medication at the time for the pain but did make the appt. I called my sister to let her know about it as she would have to drive me as I was on meds.She called office as well to tell them that I had no insurance and ask if this was needed. They repeated same thing to her as they did to me. At the appt. Dr. Gardner only repeated what ER doctor told me and did not take an x-ray. I askedto have my sister come in room to hear what he had communicated to me because I way confused at what I was hearing and not sure why I was there. He argued with me and said that it was not necessary for her to come in. I became upset at this and after suggesting that I was belligerent he asked my sister to come in. This treatment was uncalled for, the appointment was uncalled for and he was very unprofessional in the way he treated me and talked with me. I am reporting him to the Medical Board as well.I I would no refer this man to anyone and would suggest that anyone having a similar experience file a complaint as well. Respectfully,[redacted]

I would like him to write off the bill he sent me. I feel he took advantage of me and the situation. I should not have been charged or even had an appointment made with him. It should have been my call to make an appointment with him if needed.

I am a physician that takes emergency call at my hospital's emergency room. Emergency room physicians routinely contact me and request that I facilitate followup for individuals that have medical issues necessitating an emergency room visit. My office offers a followup appointment to those individuals that presented to the emergency room to facilitate their care. The emergency room does not have the expertise to manage any complicating factors that may arise that necessitate surgery or ongoing care. That routine has worked very well for me for the past 12 years I have been in practice. I do not refuse care to anyone based on their insurance coverage or lack of insurance - it is simply the best way to practice for my community. This individual does not have to pay for her visit as it is assumed that many will not be able given their circumstances.

I believe that this is the correct response to my complaint and I appreciate Dr. Gardner writing this off. I wish him well in his practice moving forward.
