To whom it may Concern:I am filing this Complaint on behalf of my Husband who was lead to believe he was going to have One back tooth extracted, instead he was Coerced into having Two Extracted,I informed him in advance to Speak Up and ask what the Cost would be,mainly because Gentle Dental does not except Dental Discounts. I was standing by because of the fact that my Husband is a Veteran and suffers from PTSD and Tinnitus...He also gives everyone the benefit of the Doubt,I do not Trust many Dentists because of my past Experiences! When we made the Appointment was for one Tooth not Two!Thank God we had a Credit Card and a $25 Coupon, but I feel it was to Steep.we did not anticipate having another Tooth Extracted! I was standing by while my Husband was in the Chair and was Rudely told to move away? Why? I informed him I was there for Support because my Husband hates going to Dentists! My Complaint is that this Dentist over heard me say it better not costs that much.We were told if there was a problem it would cost more...Then this Dentist decides to pull another Tooth when it was not necessary. We informed them before we would have the second Tooth pulled at a later date! I feel this Dentist extracted the other Tooth intentionally!A while back when we first decided to go to Gentle Dental we were told it would only cost $57 for an X Ray,Cleaning and to talk to the Dentist. We never did get the Cleaning as of yet?Desired SettlementI feel my Husband should be Refunded for being Mislead, having two teeth pulled the same day without us knowing beforehand, they should of Discussed this before he Sat in the Chair. My Husband is in Severe Pain right now because of having Two Teeth Pulled at the Same time! What was this Dentist thinking? I am the one who has to oversee these Procedures because of my Husband's Dissabilty! It is all about the "Money" and I am very Upset with their Tactics and Rudeness! Business' Initial Response Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address these concerns. It is always our goal to fully inform our patients prior to any service being offered and performed. First, and most important, the patient will receive a call from our office today. Some discomfort is expected after any surgical procedure. If he is experiencing severe pain he should be seen immediately. With attention the complaint. Our doctor would welcome the opportunity to discuss the patient's concerns at any time. He is not aware of any issues with the care provided. We encourage our patients to speak directly with their treating doctor to answer any questions. Our patient should contact the office to schedule a time to speak with the doctor if there are concerns. The patient presented in the office on 5/30/2013 for a complete examination and xrays. He was informed of the needed services and presented a treatment plan and cost estimate at that visit. Our patient had some immediate dental care needs. Once those were completed, the next visit would be for the dental cleaning. This is provided at no cost. He may contact the office at his earliest convenience to schedule the cleaning appointment. On 7/13/2013 our patient presented in the office for an appointment with the oral surgeon for extraction of two teeth. He was provided with the risks of surgery for the two extractions and an informed consent was signed by the patient and witnessed by both the Oral Surgeon and the dental assistant. The patient consented to extract two teeth. At no time during each of the patient's two visits in our office was it indicated he was not legally capable of making decisions concerning his medical care. Our doctors and staff took every necessary step prior to the procedure to inform the patient of all risks and costs. The cost of the surgical procedure was less than the original estimate. The patient gave informed consent for the procedure. The $25 discount was applied to the procedures. The charges are appropriate. I will forward copies of the initial estimate, signed informed consent and complete listing of treatment to the patient. If any further information is required, please let me know. Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not agree. On our 1st visit, after the X Ray taken,we were informed that two teeth needed to be extracted, usually a Dentist offers other Alternatives. My Husband did however agree because they were in the back and he knew if he chose to save these two Teeth it would be too "Expensive" We informed them that we would have one Tooth extracted, not two on the Same Day! Before my Husband Sat in that Chair,he should of been Told they were going to Extract Two! We did not go there knowing he was going to have Two Teeth Pulled instead of one!!! On our 1st visit we told them we would have the other Tooth Extracted at a later Date. This statement should of been written so the Dentist who performed these Extractions would of known ahead of time.My Husband suffered for over a week because he had two Teeth Pulled instead on One,not to mention the Double Expense!I was Shocked when we went to pay at the desk and was informed that two Teeth were Pulled.I was like they pulled the Wool over our Eyes! And because of this I had to Cancel my Dentist Appointment to have Bridge Work done.I also feel they should of Offered an additional Discount because my Husband has no Dental Ins.The other Dentist I now go to Does along with a Dental Discount I now have.We did receive a $25.00 Discount but they should of Offered an additional Discount because of the second Tooth that was Pulled without my knowledge! I feel this Dentist did this intentionally because he was annoyed and informed me to move away and I refused because I was reading Dental materials and wanted to stay Close by because my Husband was very Nervous and I wanted to offer my Support! My main regret is choosing Gentle Dental,I should of done my Home work by researching various Dentists and testimonials from their Patients.I later did discover many Complaints made against "Gentle Dental"! I should of Cancelled and had him go to my Dentist and we could of Saved so much more money! I feel we should be Compensated for the second Tooth that we had no Idea was going to be pulled on the same Day!I was also informed over the Phone that Gentle Dental only offers their $57 Special and nothing else, which is why I chose not to go to them! I also did not want to pay an addition Fee to obtain my Husband's Dental record, so we decided to have the the two teeth pulled on two different days at Gentle Dental. Now I realized we would of saved more!
