Hired Mr [redacted] to fix leaking skylights in 2012, skylights still leak.I have had a problem with two skylights that leak in the winter during freeze and thaw cycles. I hired Mr [redacted] in the summer of 2012 to fix the lights. He said he could defiantly get them to stp leaking, I paid him $600.00. During the winter of 2012/2013 the lights continued to leak. I called Mr [redacted] in the spring and he said he would come out during the summer. Called in June and he said a few weeks. Called in July and he said he'd be out in a week or two, called in beginning of August and got same story. Since the middle of August I have left several messages, he does not answer the phone or return calls. Desired SettlementI'd like him to come back out and attempt to stop the leaking. If more of the roof is involved than just the skylights I don't mind paying some additional fee for the service. If he does not want to come out then I would like a partial refund since $600 is a lot of money for skylights that still leak.Business Response I have already responded to this over a week ago. We did not do the initial roofing job and we're asked to try to fix the problem that original contractor had created. I went with 3 employees to mr. [redacted] roof and did everything possible short of removing entire existing roofing and doing the whole job over. Unless the section of roof is entirely removed (to get to the bones of the problem) it is my professional opinion that that problem may never be resolved short of putting band aids. It's impossible to figure out what the original contractor did wrong with out starting over. In this way the roofing job would be considered our companies work. We did our best. At this point I'm sure customer is upset, but we tried to help, unfortunately these are words I'm sure he doesn't want to here, and probably doesn't want to spend the money to do what I now know to be nessecary. Maybe original contractor should be contacted at least as well..Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I told Mr. [redacted] that that it may not be an easy fix but he assured me he could fix it. I am open to other solutions but at this point in the season it will be difficult to find someone else. Perhaps that would not have been the case if I had not been told that he would be back out through out the summer. So I am not happy with the fact that I paid $600 and the problem was not fixed.Final Business Response I have know problem giving the repair another attempt, but it seems to be to the extent that I previously described . To do the portion of the roof in its entirety, is the only way I can be the responsible party for any problems. I know this isn't what the customer wants to hear, but I did not do the roof and without opening the whole area up it is impossible to see the catty list to the problem. Once again I believe the original contractor should be contacted as I really do understand the customers frustration. I did the best that could be done without re-doing the area. If done, than my name would be on the roof and therefore the responsible party. You can't see the bones of the roof or sky light without this process, and patching does seem to be the answer.
