SWAT Environmental of PA offers two types of residential radon systems, each with their own warrantee The first, a complete active system is designed by our PA DEP certified technicians and then installed We offer a lifetime warrantee on the workmanship of the system (that is, mechanical and structural integrity), we offer a year (it was years at one time) FACTORY warrantee on the fan, and we offer a guarantee that the ultimate radon level of the home will come down to pC/L or below Our system design, we own delivering the radon level. The second type of system is a “passive activation” The homeowner already has passive radon piping installed by the builder and is contained within the walls of the home Since the design and implementation of the piping was done by another company, and since we cannot even inspect the implementation to insure quality (the pipes are hidden in the walls), we DO NOT offer a radon level guarantee We DO offer the factory warrantee on the fan NOT our system design, we don’t own the radon level. When we were contacted in November of and told that the level at the house was pC/L, we informed the home owner that we did not guarantee the radon level When a warrantee fan service was requested we informed the customer that since the house started at a level of pC/L, the fan could not be dead if the level was at pC/L.We strive very hard to adhere and honor our warrantees This customer did not have a radon level warrantee since work done was a passive system activation and we only guarantee levels if we design the system ourselves.Aaron *F*President and OwnerS.W.A.TEnvironmental of Pennsylvania

*** *** hired us to seal her sump crock and to inspect her system. Our certified technician determined that the sump crock was well sealed and after a full system inspection also determined that no other problems could be found. By all measures the system was in good working order
To facilitate *** *** determining if her system was effective at removing all of the radon in her house, we provided her with a radon test kit, FREE OF CHARGE. This was beyond our standard practice. A test kit normally costs an additional $20.The source of the customer's dissatisfaction was that *** *** had a sick child at home and was unable to spend time with our technician when he concluded his system inspection. Had she been available, he would have shown her the detailed list of items he inspectedIn retrospect our technician should have been more assertive by insisting that she review his findings. We do admit that our office staff failed to follow up and mail to her the system inspection checklist, this is not something we normally need to do. This was an error on our part. HOWEVER the checklist would have shown that no problems were discovered with her system. Our standard charge for a service visit was incurred. This amount doesn't go down if no problems are found

Our standard warrantee for the activation of a previously installed passive system is as follows: We warrantee our workmanship for the life of the system and the fan installed has a year factory warrantee Since the bulk of the system itself (piping, sub-slab plenum, etc) was provided
by another vendor, we DO NOT warrantee the ultimate radon level achieved We only guarantee the level if we design and install all of the system In this case, we were hired to put a fan on someone else's system. Our records show that this house originally reported a radon level in excess of pC/L After our activation of their system, the reported level was pC/L, within error of measurement of the target level of pC/L This would not have been possible without the fan being active and the overall system functioning properly. If the fan had died, the level would NOT have been and our warrantee would have been to replace it for free If there was any other system irregularity associated with our installation, our warrantee is to repair it for free The fact that this customer decided to pay another provider to replace the fan was their decision

SWAT Environmental of PA offers two types of residential radon systems, each with their own warrantee.  The first, a complete active system is designed by our PA DEP certified technicians and then installed.  We offer a lifetime warrantee on the workmanship of the system (that is, mechanical and structural integrity), we offer a 5 year (it was 7 years at one time) FACTORY warrantee on the fan, and we offer a guarantee that the ultimate radon level of the home will come down to 4.0 pC/L or below.  Our system design, we own delivering the radon level. The second type of system is a “passive activation”  The homeowner already has passive radon piping installed by the builder and is contained within the walls of the home.  Since the design and implementation of the piping was done by another company, and since we cannot even inspect the implementation to insure quality (the pipes are hidden in the walls), we DO NOT offer a radon level guarantee.  We DO offer the factory warrantee on the fan.  NOT our system design, we don’t own the radon level. When we were contacted in November of 2014 and told that the level at the house was 4.1 pC/L, we informed the home owner that we did not guarantee the radon level.  When a warrantee fan service was requested we informed the customer that since the house started at a level of 160 pC/L, the fan could not be dead if the level was at 4.1 pC/L.We strive very hard to adhere and honor our warrantees.  This customer did not have a radon level warrantee since work done was a passive system activation and we only guarantee levels if we design the system ourselves.Aaron *.  Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The problem was the radon system we were given included a warranty, and when the system failed, per the giving reports I submitted, the company refused to service my unit.  The evidence speaks for itself and it was over 10 pCL not 4.1.  The radon fan was installed with the wrong size coupling, and was leaking and was overheating.  We offered them the fan back at [redacted].  Golden Vista aka [redacted] left me high and dry with no other recourse than to hire another company to deal with their incompetence.  Please advice me on next steps as their response is not an accurate assessment of what occurred.Regards,
