Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]
Unfortuntely, there were multiple (conveniently unnamed) agents with whom I worked and I was given conflicting statements from each agent with whom I communicated. I WAS told that the date was no longer available and the claim that I was not, further demonstrates a lack of integrity within your agency. I understand that the single occupancy rate is standard; my complaint is that I specifically asked if that could be waved and was told yes. I have emails that document this but despite this you are not willing to honor what I was told and are trying to say that what I have written in black and white is not true. Moreover, your agency's practice of never providing an agent's name in response to any of my emails also demonstrates that your agents practice deception and plausible deniability. I no longer wish to receive services from your agency as I suspect your practices are fraudulent, or at best, dishonorable and incompetent.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID#[redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have attached the original invoice which clearly shows tax separate from the $3,996 [redacted] Deal. I have also attached the e-mail from Great Value Vacations stating that I should ignore that line of taxes as that is "how the airlines" separate the taxes, although there should be no additional airline taxes. I have also included the [redacted] deal that states that airline taxes are included in the [redacted] deal, therefore there should be no airline taxes on the Great Value Vacations invoice at all.

[redacted] sent us an email at 3:41am on Jan 6th. As this email address is not intended for emergencies and is not monitored 24/7, as we do have a 24/7 emergency phone number,  it was responded to the morning of Jan 7th.  We immediately contacted B & B Ireland, who administers the...

individual B & Bs.  Due to a malfunction in their booking system the B & B owner was unable to verify the validity of [redacted]'s voucher. B & B Ireland immediately contacted the B & B owner to advise them that the voucher was valid. We called [redacted] back but were unable to reach him and left a voicemail. We were advised that the situation was sorted out and [redacted] did not have to pay out of pocket as all his vouchers were accepted.  We apologize for any inconvenience this caused [redacted].

Great Value Vacations: so disappointed in customer service/response to customer concerns. Whole big story is below. Feeling anxious! (Warning: long story below--don't read unless you want to feel anxious or need help sleeping)
I researched a trip to Ireland as a surprise Christmas gift to my fiance in October 2016. I planned to trip along with a couple that we planned to travel with. We found a vacation packages "The Ireland Castles and Resorts Upgrade" that seemed perfect. The only difficulty was that my fiance and I were hoping to travel for 8 days, and our travel companions were only able to travel for 6 days.
I called the company, Great Value Vacations, in the presence of our travel companions during the week of October 16, prior to October 20. I explained to the customer service agent that we were interested in buying one package for six days (our travel companions), and one package for eight days (for myself and my fiance) for late March, but that we wanted to change some of the days of hotel reservations to ensure that we were in the same place at the same time. It would have amounted to changing the first hotel for our reservation to a three day reservation rather than a two day reservation, and moving the others up one day, and only staying one day at the final hotel. The service representative assured us that this was an easy switch, and to go ahead and book the vacations and call back afterwards to request the changes.
Well, we booked our vacations--I booked a few days after the call on October 20, 2016. I then called Great Value Vacations on 10/26/2016 @ 4:23 PM to request the changes be made. The customer service rep was unable to verbally confirm the changes on the phone, but said that she would be back in touch if they needed any more information from me. I understood that the changes would be made, or that they would reach back out if there were any problems with my request. I did not receive any further communications from the company.
This week, in checking my itinerary for the trip scheduled 3/23/2017, I noticed that the requested changes had not been made. I called the company on 3/10/2017 to investigate. After explaining the situation to the customer service representative I was informed by a customer service representative that their policy was that no changes could be made. There was nothing they could do. I explained that I was assured by one of their representative prior to booking the trip that the changes could be made, and I took them at their word. The customer service rep, after an extensive call was unable to resolve the issue and told me that a supervisor would call me that evening to address the issue. No call was received from a supervisor.
I called the company back 3/11/2017 (now twelve days out from the trip) and explained my situation again to a customer service representative. After a hold I was passed to a supervisor who reiterated that their policy was not to change hotel dates. I requested that the supervisor look at their phone records to see that I had called prior to booking the trip and to identify which representative I had spoken to. The supervisor said if they would seek to re-train the representative, but was not able to offer any solutions. When pressed, she mentioned that it seemed another supervisor had started to make some changes to my file, but had not completed them. She said that she would touch base with that supervisor on Monday 3/13/2017 and get back to me. She stated that the changes were not likely to be made due to the inventory status of the company, and that I was not eligible for a refund because I did not purchase trip protection.
I waited on 3/13 for a call/proposal from the company--we never received a call, so at 4:30 I waded into the breach. On hold for 55 minutes and finally connected with a supervisor, Cynthia! Two minutes into the call we became mysteriously disconnected...she never called back (despite having my contact info). I called the main line again, waited on hold for 40+ minutes and was connected to Kaylee--who told me all the supervisors had gone home (!) despite the line being open until 9PM. She sent an urgent email to the supervisor who was supposed to be on duty that night with my email and phone number. I never received a call back :( or an email :(
My stance is that neither our travel companions or myself would not have purchased vacation packages through this company if we had not been assured that adjustments could be made to the hotel reservations so that we could travel together. We have the phone logs demonstrating that calls were made, the timing of the calls, and the initial call was observed by our travel companions'.
Great Value Vacations needs to offer a solution to back up the service their customer service representative promised.
I had requested by Monday 3/13 I would like the business to:
1.) Rebook the trip as we had initially been promised, OR
2.) Refund half of the trip money/ cancelling the incorrect hotel reservations--we will rebook half of the hotel stays ourselves, retaining the other features of the trip, OR
3.) Refund the whole trip so that we can rebook flight and airfare on our own in time for our planned trip.

Now that we are 9 days out I have rebooked the entire vacation myself for fear of missing time with our friends (all cancellable should GVV choose to respond to my concerns...)

No solution...what would you do?

Review: We booked a week long inclusive vacation to Ireland through Great Value Vacations. This vacation package included a rental car from the [redacted] car rental company in Ireland. When booking the package with a representative from Great Value Vacations, we were told that [redacted] insurance is not included in the rental car and that we had to pay an extra fee to get coverage. The fee was $260.00 which we thought was quite high. When I asked if there were other insurance options, perhaps some less expensive, I was told no. We were not given any other options only this one. In addition, I was told that if we were to purchase this coverage in Ireland, the cost would be much more expensive. We believed what the representative told us and decided to purchase the insurance. After speaking with an agent at the car rental company when we arrived in Ireland and doing my own research when we returned from our trip, I found out that standard [redacted] insurance is included when renting a car with the [redacted] car rental company, there are no hidden fees. I received 2 quotes from the rental car company - a week long rental including standard [redacted] would have been $146.00 and if we wanted their best coverage, the week long rental would have been $288 including standard [redacted] plus an excess waiver fee. Why were we charged $260? The rental car was included in the vacation package and so should have been standard [redacted] insurance as per rental company policy. I emailed Great Value Vacations on 4/**/14 with our concerns that we were charged for insurance that we shouldn't have paid for since it is included when renting a car from [redacted], requested a refund for the fee we paid, and never received a reply. I called Great Value Vacations on 7/*/14 to voice our concerns. The representative was very rude and argumentative. She requested that I resend the quotes I received on my own and I promptly responded to that request. We received an email today 7/*/14 stating that we would not be getting a refund. These business practices are unethical. We were given false information and lied to. I have electronic copies of our vacation package confirmation and the quotes I received from the [redacted] car rental agency should you need them in reviewing this complaint. Thank you very much for taking the time to address this matter.Desired Settlement: Refund in the amount of 260.00 either on my credit card or check sent to our home address

Response:

With all assurance the Collision Waiver purchased through Great Value Vacations is considered the best when compared to that offered by [redacted] and they have confirmed this. In the event of an accident the customer that purchased our collision package will have a zero deductible, the comfort of walking away with no added cost.

In comparison, a customer that reserved directly with [redacted], they will always have a deductible either for €1200.00 - €100.00, depending on size of vehicle reserved. With the €100.00 deductible a customer must have purchased both CDW coverage and the Excess/ Deductible Waiver cover i.e.

Class A economy per day = €31.00 with a deductible of €100.00 (CDW & Deductible Insurance) or

Class A economy per day = €16.00 with a deductible of €1200.00 (CDW only)

The client are given to options to either;

1. To purchase Great Value Vacation’s Collision Waiver with a zero deductible.

2. To purchase at the rental counter and be subjected to the applicable deductibles,

or

3. Take the basic package that is included with the rental, leaving the customer exposed to the full value of the [redacted] vehicle if they have damage and a security hold in excess of €3000.

Like any other insurance, the lower the deductibles the higher the premiums. The insurance services were provided and regrettably, no refunds are due.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

We have copied to this response information taken from the confirmation we received from Great Value Vacations. As you can see, there is a statement saying that CDW is not included. No options were disclosed to us either in writing or when speaking with the representative from the travel agency regarding insurance coverage other than "VIP Express". When asked if there were less expensive options for insurance, we were told no. We were also told that CDW would be much more expensive if we decided to purchase it in Ireland rather than through Great Value Vacations.

We have also copied to this response information taken from an online quote we received from the rental car agency, [redacted]. As you can see, third party cover and CDW is included when renting a car from this agency. The rental car was included in our package so why were we told CDW is not included. Why were we charged for a service by Great Value Vacations that is already included when renting a car from [redacted]? Why were we charged $260 when the cost of a week rental would have been $146.58 including CDW if we had gotten it ourselves. This information was not disclosed to us, nor was information disclosed to us regarding various types of insurance options and coverage when booking the vacation package. We believe that we have been subject to misleading advertising which is defined as any published claim that gives a consumer an incorrect understanding of the product they are interested in purchasing or using. False advertising can come from both misstatements and partially correct statements that are misleading because they do not disclose something the consumer should know. Sales tactics were used to get us to purchase a service that we would not have if all information was fully disclosed to us at the time of booking the vacation package.

Review: I purchased a trip through Great Value Vacations. I choose to upgrade and pay a additional cost to secure a automatic car. I did not get a automatic car and there were none available at the Rome Hertz rental company. I requested a refund in May 2013 when I returned from the trip. I have provided all the details to the company and I am getting no answers from the company. They keep saying call back later.Desired Settlement: I would like the payment I made to upgrade to a automatic car refunded as the services were not provided.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered a vacation flying out of JFK with Reservation number [redacted]. I confirmed my purchase and set everything up on 8/*/14...4 days ago. I realized that Southwest does not fly directly to the airport in New York (JFK) but does fly to LaGuardia. I also realized that we could instead fly out of Logan Airport in Boston so I decided to call and change the airport since the trip is not going to occur until December. I am aware that airlines will let you switch flights after it is booked etc. without any penalty. However, Great Value Vacations said they will charge us $350 per person. The trip cost $700 per person...so that is a penalty of half the price. I do not see that anywhere on the site and if it were then it sounds extremely unfair. The lady on the phone offered nothing else and just said "sorry" and hung up. I don't know what type of customer service this is and what type of company would fine a customer for switching airports when such switching costs the company nothing.Desired Settlement: I just want to switch JFK to BOS as our departure airport without being penalized for something that is free to do for any normal customer.

Business

Response:

Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only. Cancellation of individual flight segments on connecting itineraries shall be considered a routing change and may be subject to change fee and fare difference as per the rules of the fare purchased. In this case, the fees associated with the changes are $350 per person in addition to any fare difference if applicable at time of change.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I just spoke with the airport and they said routing changes can be made as long as it is made within a reasonable amount of time before the flight....at no extra charge. Show me a statement from the airport...not from your business....where it says that changing the departure airport will incur a $350 fee, which by the way is half the price of the trip per person.

Ok, then I will put a complaint in against [redacted] through the Attorney General for violation of passenger rights. That is so illegal not to allow a passenger to change a flight so in advance that it isn't even funny.

Review: [redacted] deal bought for two couples including flight, hotels, rental car for [redacted] trip provided by this company. [redacted] deal clearly states that all airline taxes were included as was tax for package. When Great Value Vacations was called to purchase additional car insurance, invoice itemizing total package included additional airline taxes. E-mail response from company clearly states additional taxes were airline taxes, although they are previously covered in the credit card purchases from [redacted]. I have all e-mails and invoices to this effect.Desired Settlement: Refund of additional taxes

The client paid a total of $1404.74 that included the taxes. Required by law, we disclose the taxes on our travel documents. To simply break it down, the client individual total comprised of package cost $1292 and taxes 112.04, this figure actually represent the airline taxes. Be assured the taxes were not additional.

Response:

Dear [redacted], The following shows an alternate computation of package andhow it includes the taxes. The voucher value included taxes ($112.04 per person) – $999 x 4 =$3996.00 Other added features- Package upgrade $99 x 4 = $396.00 Package extension$ 150 x 4 = $600.00 Collision 9insurance = $298.76 Automatic car upgrade = $329.12 Total added features $1623.88 Total Package cost $ 5619.88 /4Per person rate $1404.97 We trust the above satisfies the client inquiry. Any furthercorrespondence may not alter our position on this matter as the client was not overcharged,in reference of the taxes paid. Again, as required by law we must show thevalue of the taxes on our invoices. Regards,Great Value Vacations

Review: They changed our return flight without any notification or consent and then our personally purchased flights did not work with the new times. (we live in MN and package purchased was from IL, so you purchased seperate airfare).

Our trip was for June **-July * from Chicago IL, to Ireland, there were six traveling in our group. They emailed me on May [redacted] of the change to the return flight, I contacted them the next day and told them the new flight would not work. They said not to worry that they would take care of it. I waited until May [redacted] and they had not called back so I contacted them again and they said they would do whatever they needed to to resolve the issue. Being this was an international flight and we had six in our party I contacted them again on 6/*, 6/*, 6/*, 6/**, 6/** and 6/** when they finally said they could get us new flights for an additional $282 (plus an extra charge for the 2 insured trips) per person and they would pay half and expected us to pay half or we could cancel the trip. I told them that was not satisfactory but we did not want to cancel the trip as 6 people had taken vacation arranged childcare etc. to prepare for the trip. I did authorize the charge to my card with the stipulation in an email that I would be further persuing the matter. They kept stating they notified me on May [redacted] and I never responded, I only got an email on May [redacted] with hotel vouchers and nothing about an airline time change. When asked to provide the email and also the actual receipt for the additionsal charge, they went silent. I have asked [redacted], who we initally puchased a voucher from to help and they give me the run around and say they need to work through their client, which is Great Value Vacations. Great Value Vacations tells [redacted] don't worry we have it all taken care of for her. They fail to respond to me at this point. I have contated them at least a half dozen times since I returned on July [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like them to pay the additional fee to change the return airline flights in the amount of $881.83

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I was told the cost to add 2 additional days of vehicle rental and insurance to a previously arranged trip would be a total of $117 plus $60 for the insurance. I agreed to add the days based on this quote. I was told there would be a charge of $415 and a credit for the difference to net out to the amount quoted as this was the way the change needed to be made. I was charged $415 however received no credit. I have contacted the company on at least 5 occasions attempting to resolve the issue. I was conveinetly disconnected after over 45 minutes of waiting for resolution and told on numerous other occasions that someone would call me back to resolve. I have received no call backs. I have been attempting to resolve since early April. I have invested several hours in this process to no avail.Desired Settlement: Credit issued to my credit card, consistent with the initial agreement, of $238.
