I am writing in response to your letter dated August 22, *** stated she came into the store May 2 and dropped a comforter off in a garbage bag but she did not have a receipt. We checked our system and told ***'s her last drop off at our store was in March
and all items were picked up- none of which were a comforterWe explained that any items dropped off not in a GreenEarth express bag are given a ticket so even if she did not have her receipt, we would have record of receiving itTo further prove it to *** our store manager did a full inventory of the store and found we do not show receiving any comforters on that day or any other day fitting the description of her comforterWe explained we keep records through our barcode system of the make, item type and color of every item dropped at our storeEvery item received is barcoded to track it through the plant from start to finishWe suggested she check her other drycleaner as she mentioned she had moved from the area in MarchIt is not uncommon that customers who use multiple cleaners sometimes forget where they drop their items offOur store manager explained this and our policy to *** but she insisted we give her cash for the replacement comforter she purchased. We explained that although we are not responsible for items we have no record of receiving, as a customer service gesture we could offer a store credit for the replacement cost*** refused our offerI reiterated the offer stating as in her case we don't have record of her visiting our store, she doesn't have a receipt of the drop off, we feel bad for her and hope the store credit of $will help*** refused the store credit. At that point there was nothing more we could do for her as we truly feel she never dropped it at our storeShe said that if we don’t give her a refund she would write a bad reviewWe do not conduct business that wayWe did find that she did post on *** but then pulled the post down which lead us to believe she had found her comforter.Please let me know if you need any other information. I am rejecting this response because:The business has misrepresented the situation and left out key componentsThe letter also implies what the business has been trying to convince of, that I don't where I dropped off the comforter- which is absolutely incorrectI have several issues with the company's responseFirst, I have dropped clothing and household goods for years at that storeNever once did I receive a receipt for anythingThat is true of things I have dropped off in trash bags before as well as the cleaning bags themselvesSecond, I was told by the store manager that they reimburse the cost of a new comforterIf for no other reason than this, they should honor what I was toldNot only did they not followed through on this, I had to contact them several time in an attempt to get this resolvedIt wasn't until I forced the issue that they came back and said their "policies have changed" and the best they could do was a store creditFor several reasons the store credit wasn't and isn't acceptableThe most important being that I lack confidence in them, and absolutely have no reason to inconvenience myself to drop off and pick up cleaning. As far as the *** review goes, I did not take it down because the comforter was locatedI took it down because the dealings and communication with Green Earth Cleaners is so frustrating to me that it creates a negative situation, that I simple do not wish to continue to waste time and energy dealing with the issue. At this point, it is obvious to me that the company lacks integrityI have learned a valuable lesson as a consumer, and no longer want to have any correspondence with the company
