stops in to the facility to get a quote for a detail on his older model Camry
I looked the cars exterior over and saw that there
was no clear coat on the
paint except for the roofI explained that we could not polish the exterior
because there was no clear coat and advised him to have the car repaintedI
explained that we can hand wax the exterior but it would not bring back the
shineThe customer had purchased a black plastic restorer and wanted to apply
it to the entire vehicle thinking it would bring the shine backI advised him
that is only for the black plastic trim and side mirrors if they had black
plastic, which they did notThe vehicle was all whiteThere were many areas
of damage on the vehiclePaint transfer and paint damage that was too deep to
be buffed outAll this was explained in detail the customer so we could meet
the expectations agreed onWhich was a wash and hand waxFor the interior I looked
at the condition of the carpets, seats, console, dash, headliner and windows
The customer laughed and said "it has never been cleaned and is very
bad"I agreedThe carpets were covered in black, orange, and red stains
Most likely from grease food and juiceThe doors and door handles were covered
in grease and dirtFood and trash all over the interior floorIt was one of
the worst vehicles I have seenI told him that stains that had sat for so long
could not be guarantee to come completely out but that we would do everything
we could to get them outThe vehicle was dropped of the evening before the
appointment and the customer requested the Superior PresidentialI explained
again to him that we could not polish the vehicle because there was no clear
coat so polishing the paint could damage itHe understood and agreed to the
packageThe detailer began to prep the vehicle in the car wash bayPrepping
is removing bugs and tar from the exterior, spraying the wheels and wheel wells
and spraying the engineThe customer actually came back for a jacket that was
in the backseat of the vehicle and saw the hood up and the engine being
cleanedHe commented on it was great that we were not wasting any time getting
startedThe engine was power washed and sprayed with a degreaser and then
cleaned with an all purpose cleaner and finally sprayed with a release agent
and shining chemicalThe car wash the washed with our Diamond exterior wash
This is our top wash and does the undercarriage, scrubs the wheels and triple
foam washAfter the wash the car was clay bared and hand waxedWe used JAX
wax carnauba hand waxDue to how bad the dullness was of the paint the detailer
waxed the vehicle twiceThe rims were wiped out by hand and tires shine was
applied to the tires and the wheel well where sprayed with a conditioner to
give them a shineThe detailer then began what would turn into hours of
scrubbing door panels, door handles, console, dash, steering columns to remove
the years of grease and dirtIt was FILTHYThe detailer use high pressure air
to blow out the trash from underneath and between the seatsAll the carpet was
pre-treated with stain remover and then a steam cleaning extractor was used to
work on removing the stains, dirt and greaseAfter the carpets did not come
clean we used a carpet dye to help cover the stains, but they were still
visible somewhatA car this size should take hours to do, we ended up
spending hoursThe windows were so dirty a razor blade was needed to remove
the dirt and grease around the edgesEverything possible to get the vehicle
clean and detailed was done twiceThe customer came to pick up the vehicle
started yelling about the exterior and that it had not been waxedI took the
customer out and had him feel the dullness and reminded him of the lack of clear
coatHe was laughing and saying that we didn’t do anything at allThe carpets
were still damp and had lines from the extractor so he could see and feel that
we had done the workHe received a discount of $because we could not
polish the vehicle and was told this before he dropped off the vehicleDays
later he showed up complaining about the engineI had him pop the hood and
showed him the shining chemical on part of the engine to prove the engine had
in fact been cleanedI asked what can I do to make you a happy customer and he
would never tell me what could be done to resolve the issues he hadHe then
started harassing me on my facility phone and my work cell phoneEvery time he
would call I would ask what can we do to resolve the issues and he would not give
me an answerAfter a week of the harassment I told the customer that if he
could not tell me how he would like to resolve the issues I would not allow him
to keep calling and threatening meHe NEVER asked for a refundI finally got
him to agree to bring the car back to have the engine redoThis appointment
was sent for Friday April 25th at 12:00pm, he never showed upI called him to
see if he needed to reschedule and could not reach himI don’t think he wanted
to resolve it and really only wanted to belittle me and bickerI felt harassed
and threatened because I would ask him over and over again how we can resolve
it and he would just go back to belittling me and bickeringWe always want to
make our customers feel like they are getting quality work and that is exactly
what this customer receivedWe went above what he paid for to get the car
clean and detailed
