On Oct.31st, I went in to Gurnee Hyundia because I knew a salesman there, things start off all fine and dandyHe asked how much I made, I stated that I work in sales and that my paychecks are very inconsistent and can range from 600-We picked out an Awesome [redacted] , we do the paperwork, and I leave with the carI was only Approved because the Dealership had stated that I make the Max amount every single month(EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFIED THAT I DO NOT GET PAID THAT.) Three Weeks later, I was told that I would have to bring the car back, because the bank didn't want to do the deal because, once they had seen my paystubs, they found out how much I had really madeSo, I go back, We pick out a different carA Hybrid civicThe test drive goes okay, I decide to get itSince it is an older car, I decided to ask for an extended warrantyI also asked if the Warranty would cover if the Hybrid Battery would be replaced if it went badA Manager Said, "Yes, that I would be fully covered on anything under the hood." This ended up being a FLAT OUT LIE! I just got off the phone with the Extended Warranty companyThey Stated that it IS NOT COVERED! Now, the reason I decided to call the Extended Warranty people is because, the Car is Already having problemsWhen on the highway, the car stalls and the transmission acts like it is completely lost for about secondsI bring it to the Dealer, they tell me that I have to Wait Days for them to look at itI honestly do not think this car was properly checked outBecause, I also ended up with a flat tire only days after buying itI change the flat, then proceed to check the air on the rest of my tiresTHE TIRE PRESSURE IS 66% OF WHAT THEY SHOULD BE! Now, one might say, " Well, tire pressure goes down when the weather is cold"Which is TrueBut Science says that tire pressures only drop 1-PSI per degreesSimple math proves that this is not possibleIf this car was properly checked out, I am almost positive the Tire pressures would be one of the first and simplest things on the mechanic's ChecklistAlso, the check engine light, and maintence light was onI asked the manager, and he stated, "that they didnt have the right equiptment to turn off that code." On February 7th 2014, Mr*** brought his vehicle in for a vibration concernThe Technician drove Mr***'s vehicle and could not duplicate
the concernA couple of recalls were performed and Mr*** was not charged
On February 25th Mr*** returned with the same concern relating to a vibrationThe Technician was able to duplicate the concern at this timeThe Technician was able to determine the front rotors were warpedMr*** declined the work
During the inspection, the Technician also noticed that the axle boot was tornThe service department recommended that the axle and the axle boot be replacedMr*** also declined to have this work performedMr*** was charged for the diagnosis
The axle boot requires regular inspection and failure to replace a damaged boot will cause axle failure and would not be covered by the manufactureMr*** has stated that he takes his vehicle to a non-certified Hyundai mechanic to have routine maintenance performedUnfortunately untrained mechanics do not have the proper skills required to diagnosis preventative maintenance
Gurnee Hyundai will not be issuing a refund for the work performedGurnee Hyundai is committed customer satisfaction and appreciates the Revdex.com's concern in this matter

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/03/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have several issues with the dealer responseFirst of all, I have been bringing my car to the dealership for serviceYes, I've had the car for nearly years, so not all my service was at the dealershipSecond, as they mentioned, I brought the vehicle in on the 7th of FebPart of their inspection includes the boots and their trained mechanic did not see the boot issue, as per the report attached(hard to see, but he marked them as good)In addition, on the 25th I was told that the rotors were the cause of my vibration issueWhen they called me, I said that didn't make any sense and then asked if they checked the suspensionI was told on the phone that they would document their findings, but while on the phone they did not mention anything wrong with the suspensionI didn't know about the torn boot until I picked up the carWhen I picked up my car I questioned the boot issue then as the real cause of my vibrationI also questioned why I needed an axle, as per their finding in the attached reportThey couldn't answer that but said the axle was not under warranty due to failure to repair the torn bootI disagreed with their interpretation of the warranty as I had no way of knowing that the boot was torn, as they had missed it just weeks earlierI've since brought my vehicle to another dealership for a second opinionThey said the boot is the issue and the axle would have been covered based on the facts, see last page of the attachedThey also told me that the rotor diagnosis made no senseThe $fee I paid was for the wrong diagnosis(rotors vs boot) and I expect a refund for the poor technical evaluation
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/04/01) */
Mr*** is correct, the car was inspected on February 7th and the CV Boot did not have any damageWhen Mr*** returned later in February it didWhen an axle fails due to a mechanical issue it is covered under warrantyWhen an axle fails due to damage caused by failure of a CV Boot it is notMr*** contends that the damaged CV Boot was missed on the first inspection February 7thIf the boot was damaged on February 7th as Mr*** claims, it still would not be covered under warranty
We get reimbursed for all warranty work that we performWe are not in the business of denying warranty claims
Gurnee Hyundai stands by our diagnosis and will not be issuing a refund

Sorry forgot to respondIt is obvious that the dealer has no intention to satisfy this claimSince my initial claim I've had the axle repaired and the vibration stoppedThis is further evider that the dealer diagnosis was incorrect and that I was improperly charged

To Whom It May Concern:
Please be advised, Ms*** indeed visited our Service Department on September 10, at which time her vechicle was towed in due to "No start"After the vehicle was diagnosed by a Hyundai Certified
Technician, it was determined that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced due to corroded lead wiresDuring the diagnosis, the technician also determined that the crank case oil was contaminated with fuel in addition to spark plugs fouled and improprer guaging of said plugsThe crankcase position sensor malfunction also caused carbon build up which needed to be addressed although not as serious as contaminated oilall of this was a result of the crankcase sensorMs*** was explained the result of the diagnosis in detailIf the sensor was replaced without the other work being performed, it may have caused serious internal engine damage due to the engine oil lubricant breakdown from contamination of fuelIf short, by not completing the recommended repairs, the internal engine parts would be damaged and not covered by the factory warrantyMs*** is correct, we did indeed advise her that we could not make the repair unless the other items were done as wellIt is also true that the remainder of her factory drive train warranty would bave been jeopardized by the position sensor only
Enclosed please find a copy of the technician notes on repairs
Ms***'s car was brought into the Service Department with 83,miles which would have given her a balance of 16,miles of the warranty - not the 22K she lists
I am sorry, we didn't have better news for Ms***

Sorry to post a ne gat ive. review but this place is really bad. I took my car into to have it looked at due to a noise under the hood, the service adviser Vincent was great but I let him know I would like them to take care of anything under warranty and I was a mechanic in the past so I would do anything smaller not covered under warranty. My car was almost finished and the service adviser had told me that I needed a battery and brakes, I told him the battery was just replaced last year so I will check out the warranty on that and I would do the brakes as I was aware is was coming that time and they wanted 300 to do them. They gave me the keys to my car and I drove home and parked it till I was off on Sunday and I could work on them, when I went to take the lug nuts off they were cranked on so tight that I couldn't budge them, I them used my impact wrench with 120 psi and the lug nuts were still not moving. This upset me because they either had a beginner putting those things on and he over tighten them or they did that because I wasn't having them do the work, either way I contacted the dealer on Monday morning and Vincent the service adviser was apologeticabout what had happened and had asked if I could bring the car back over there so they could loosen the nuts for me. the problem that I have is that I work two jobs and have very limited time, so I had asked if it was possible that they could have somebody drive to my house where the car is and just loosen them for me so when I get home I could then work on the car. Then said let me know that he was not able to make that decision and the only way he could help me is if I brought the car by but in the meantime I don't have a day off for another week and only option is do not have that vehicle on the road at all which with a wife and for kids and both parents working that is just about impossible, so I had then spoke with the general manager of the dealership to see if there was any other options to get help on this matter and spoke with Jodi, this folks is what prompted this review. I explained the whole situation to Jody and his response was, well what do you want me to do about it. I had let him know that I was stuck in a spot due to his service guys over tightening the lug nuts on my car and he again stated so what do you want me to do about it. I figured maybe they would offer A service car so we could get back and forth to work or send somebody out and loosen the nuts for us but he was not entertaining that thought. I then had mentioned to him that would I get better treatment if I had posted my experience on social media and his response is what just blew me away, he said all, social media, let me show you how that works, he said he was going to leave his desk right after he hung up the phone with me and go back to the service guys and let them know that me as a customer was on my own and that if I went into the dealership for them not to help me, he then stated for me not to call that dealership again and Hung up the phone on me

On Oct.31st, I went in to Gurnee Hyundia because I knew a salesman there, things start off all fine and dandy. He asked how much I made, I stated that I work in sales and that my paychecks are very inconsistent and can range from 600-4000.
We picked out an Awesome [redacted], we do the paperwork, and I leave with the car.
I was only Approved because the Dealership had stated that I make the Max amount every single month. (EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFIED THAT I DO NOT GET PAID THAT.)
Three Weeks later, I was told that I would have to bring the car back, because the bank didn't want to do the deal because, once they had seen my paystubs, they found out how much I had really made.
So, I go back, We pick out a different car. A 2007 Hybrid civic. The test drive goes okay, I decide to get it. Since it is an older car, I decided to ask for an extended warranty. I also asked if the Warranty would cover if the Hybrid Battery would be replaced if it went bad. A Manager Said, "Yes, that I would be fully covered on anything under the hood." This ended up being a FLAT OUT LIE! I just got off the phone with the Extended Warranty company. They Stated that it IS NOT COVERED!
Now, the reason I decided to call the Extended Warranty people is because, the Car is Already having problems. When on the highway, the car stalls and the transmission acts like it is completely lost for about 10 seconds. I bring it to the Dealer, they tell me that I have to Wait 30 Days for them to look at it. I honestly do not think this car was properly checked out. Because, I also ended up with a flat tire only 3 days after buying it. I change the flat, then proceed to check the air on the rest of my tires. THE TIRE PRESSURE IS 66% OF WHAT THEY SHOULD BE! Now, one might say, " Well, tire pressure goes down when the weather is cold". Which is True. But Science says that tire pressures only drop 1-2 PSI per 10 degrees. Simple math proves that this is not possible.
If this car was properly checked out, I am almost positive the Tire pressures would be one of the first and simplest things on the mechanic's Checklist. Also, the check engine light, and maintence light was on. I asked the manager, and he stated, "that they didnt have the right equiptment to turn off that code." I AM CALLING [redacted].
Today and yesterday has been Filled with Empty promises of Call backs. Called FIVE TIMES, got ZERO calls back. It seems like as soon as the sale was made, they could give ZERO [redacted] about me. After Purchasing this Lemon, it has left a very sour impression on me, and WILL NOT be recommending this dealer[redacted] to anybody.
Bob [redacted]? More like Robs poor men.
If the dealership wants to work with me on this, I will gladly edit my review. however, I doubt this will happen. They obviously could not give a flying [redacted] about their online reputation.
[redacted]: 35 REVIEWS 1.5 OUT OF 5 STARS!
EDMUNDS: 11 REVIEWS 1 OUT 5 STARS.
In Conclusion, This dealership WILL rip you off, This Dealership WILL lie to you, This dealership WILL NEVER call you back. This Dealership will never get my business again.
Thank you,
