J & S Gutter Cleaning

I hired [redacted] to remove and replace an outside vent that birds got into in my attic. He said to make a check out for $125 but to another person's name he was going into business with. He was to come right back with the vent and another small cage that goes over the vent to make sure birds cannot get in again, but he never came back and my check was cashed immediately. I researched [redacted] for arrest records, and he has been arrested for drugs so I am sure that is where my money went. Meanwhile, I have hardly any means to make ends meet and have damage from birds in my open attic where he did not do the work I paid for. I note there is an alert when you search for him and his business.

On 1/29/2014 [redacted] of J&S Gutter Cleaning/Gutter Guys came to our home asking for prepayment on a gutter cleaning, due to the fact that he had been unable to work due to weather. Since [redacted] has been cleaning our gutters for several years, we wrote him a check for $50, which he cashed the same day. I can provide the cancelled check if necessary. At the time we made the payment the gutters were frozen, but [redacted] indicated that he would return asap to do the cleaning.We waited three weeks, but there was no sign of him so we began to try to get into contact. That is when we found out that his phone number is no longer in service. After a exchanging a string of emails, [redacted] has still not returned to clean the gutters. He refuses to call my husband to schedule service as requested. Instead, he claims he will show up by email and then fails to do so. In his last email, he referred to our prepayment as a "handout" and said he still owed us a "free" gutter cleaning. I have informed him that it was not a handout, it was payment for a service to be rendered, but we no longer wish him to do work at our home. Desired SettlementThe only acceptable solution to this problem is a refund, which I highly doubt he can/will provide. I don't know how many other people in my neighborhood he approached that day, but I am guessing there are more victims.

Gutter cleaning was not done completely. Pipe Boots replaced were not properly fastened down. Gutter nails not properly replaced/seated.I have hired [redacted] of J&S Gutter Cleaning to clean my gutters several times over the years. Each time he cleans some trash out of them but not fully. I have actually checked behind him and some of them he has left totally full like he didn't even clean them. I've had to call him back to finish the job. I had him replace the pipe boots and one started leaking. I had him check it and he said the wind blew it off so that the rain could leak in. That means he doesn't fasten them down like they're supposed to be. I had him replace some singles which I cannot verify that he has replaced any. Sloppy work and over charges for what he didn't do that he was supposed to do.Plus he told me my check bounced and that the check cashing company had run it twice. He needed cash and a $30.00 service charge. I gave him $200.00 to cover the $165.00 bill and the service charge. The check cleared. So, I was scammed for $200.00. Desired SettlementI want my $200.00 returned to me. I'll clean the gutters properly myself and find someone else to properly replace the pipe boots.
