in late april taxes were brought into them and as of early August they are still trying to resolve simple issue and haven;t even completed formsit has been over three months and they have not completed my taxes or my wife's. Supposedly due to an issue over a previous year assessment but we have heard nothing but excuses, and at times, it has taken more than two weeks to even get a response? [redacted] Desired Settlementto resolve any issues from last year and submit all tax forms for this year. to be responsive within a day or two not weeks. To explain how something so simple can take so long and to be able to explain what steps they have taken. We have no idea if we owe money, which we are told we don't, or if they owe us money we would like it. [redacted]Business Response [redacted]I can understand how this can be quite frustrating for [redacted] as CRA (Revenue Canada) should have had this resolved quite some time ago. CRA has also advised me recently that the Winnipeg Tax Centre is running 17 weeks behind in getting adjustments done. I have, however, recently resent the information to them electronically and asked if they could expedite this getting completed. I will e-mail [redacted] the case/reference/confirmation # regarding this, and also provide him with a way of contacting CRA to verify and get updates on the case. I have also advised [redacted] to wait until this 2014 issue is resolved before filing 2015 so it doesn't create more audit issues, but I did let him know he is free to pick up his information and have a different tax office complete his 2015 returns if he wishes. There would be no penalties or interest owing as it appears they would receive a refund. We will do our best to be as responsive as possible to get this resolved and apologize for any delays, but ask for continued patience as we do have multiple reviews in progress for various clients that we are working on.Consumer Response I think we have a hopefully made some progress here and gotten better

I have no way of retrieving it from them.On June 25/14 I dropped off my recently deceased wife and my tax info for 2013 and her info for 2014, with the request for it to be completed. With instructions to not use the banking information from the previous year, and to contact me for more information. After not hearing from them in over a month, I tried to call them, and couldn't contact anyone. I drove to their offices to find a note on the door stating that their offices are closed until Aug 25/14. Now I can't even get my information from them to hire someone else to do the taxes. Since my wife's death things have been tight, and the death benefit, child tax credit, and her cpp won't be paid until the tax returns are received. [redacted] Business Response [redacted]Due to a miscommunication with the client we assumed it would take some time for the client to obtain information necessary to complete their file, and things did not urgently need to be completed. Shortly after this our office was closed for 3 weeks while away during the summer at which time the client tried to contact us. Upon returning I contacted the client to apologize for the miscommunication, and he is going to be providing us with the remaining information once he's back in town, in order for us to complete their file.

They failed to file my taxes by the tax deadline and I submitted it to them on Feb, 20/16 and paid to have completed. On Feb 20/16 I brought in my basic tax return to be completed by J&T Income Tax. I signed everything I needed too and went about my life thinking they were doing what they said they would which is e-file them within a day or two of that date. In my busy life I did not notice that I had never received an assessment from the government and never really though of it as that's why I pay a professional company to do them. Payment of $228.44 was deducted from the refund they issued me in order for them to do my return. Fast forward to today (July 20/16) and I don't receive child tax, I hadn't received GST on July 5th either but had heard of some glitches in the system so I figured that was it but I was wrong. I phoned the CRA only to have them tell me that they never received my 2015 taxes therefore my amounts couldn't be calculated and I would not be receiving any benefits until they were filed. [redacted]. I had my tax summary and receipt from J&T which indicated my taxes were to be filed long before any government deadline. I am now liable to the government for any penalties that will incur for filing late as well. I tried to call their office to find out what happened and got an answering machine so I wrote them a message on [redacted] to which they responded that they would be in contact with me later today to let me know what happened and to get it sorted out, they have yet to actually call me. I was never alerted by their company to any issues regarding my return or letting me know that they would not be filed by the 2015 tax deadline of May 1st, 2016 for any reason and having taken them in February never could have imagined this scenario today that they were in fact not filed. [redacted] Desired Settlement[redacted] I am hoping for at least reimbursement of the $228.44 I paid to have my taxes done professionally and on time as clearly that did not happen. I also need my taxes filed ASAP in order to minimize the consequences. [redacted] Business Response [redacted]CRA (Revenue Canada) updated their e-filing system for the 2015 tax year. Due to internal issues within CRA we have encountered some returns that were submitted to CRA, but never actually accepted. We are in the process of auditing all returns to verify if any other client's have been affected by this issue, but it does take us some time as we have over 3,000 clients during a very short period of time. When [redacted] contacted us on [redacted] I did respond immediately that we would look into it and that I would be in touch with her that day to let her know what was happening even though we were on vacation and not due to return to the office until 3 days later. We arrived back at 6pm that day, but she had already sent another message on [redacted] asking why I hadn't responded yet. Upon looking into her file that day I determined that it had been transmitted the day she received her instant tax refund from us on Feb.20/16, but never accepted by CRA. I called her to explain what had happened and that I was so sorry for the frustration that the situation had caused. I immediately reconfirmed her address, retransmitted the file to CRA, and then confirmed that it had been accepted by them which it was. I also offered her a full refund on our fees which she accepted and picked up the next day. I also assured her there would be no penalties/interest since she had a refund. Any amounts owed to her for CTB/GST will still be paid out by those departments. [redacted]. I've also advised CRA of this issue, and they are working to fix this problem so it never occurs again.
