Ms. [redacted] had called the office complaining of a leak. We sent someone out to investigate and repair the leak. As it turns out, Mrs. [redacted] was...

experiencing an "Ice Dam" which caused the leak. Ice dams much like tornadoes are considered "Acts of God" and as such are not covered by our warranty or any other Roofing Co's that I am aware of. The only way to be absolutely sure a roof will no leaks from an Ice Dam is to install a rubber roof. Since a rubber roof is not required in this case, and was requested by the homeowner, there will be a charge to change out the roof.

We trying to ammend the damaged ceiling issues with this homeowner. First lack of communication, she would not answer the phone nor return our phone calls. We sent numerous contractors to fix her problem...

and she did not like any of them and she threw them out. Instead of sending out yet another contractor, we then suggested she find her own contractor that she would be happy with and advise us of the cost to repair the ceilings and we would make any monitory adjustments necessary. She responded quite the opposite saying that WE did not like the contractors that were sent. At this point, we are waiting for estimates from homeowner for the damage repair.

Review: My name is [redacted] and I am submitting this complaint on behalf of my mother, Mrs. [redacted] who purchased and resides at the address listed.

We hired this roofing company in 2005 to do a complete roofing job, which came with a 30 year manufacturer`s warranty and a 10 year company guarantee on all workmanship. Recently the roof has began to leak. I contacted the company concerning the leak and they arrived and address the leak. I was informed that because of the pitch of the roof certain material could be used to prevent the leak from ever happening again, and a proposal would arrive in a few days. When the proposal arrived the company wanted $1900.00 to repair the roof that they replaced. On three (3) separate phones to the company, I was told, They could not find the contract, It may never happen again since this was a severe winter, and they are not responsible becaused it Snowed.Desired Settlement: Repair the Roof according to there own proposal under the terms of the original contract.

Since this company did an entire roof job, why didn`t they use the required material needed( because of the pitch in the roof ) so as to prevent the roof from leaking when they installed the new roof? Why when the company realized we have a contract in force, we are now being told it may never happen again and/or they are not responsible for the leak.

Review: Penyak installed a new roof on 8-6-14. A roofer fell through the roof and through a bedroom ceiling, causing a 3' x 2' hole in the ceiling.

Also: a roofer removed an exhaust fan turbine from the roof and, in doing so, caused water damage and buckling of the ceiling in the bathroom ceiling.

I have called Penyak more than 25 times. They do not return calls. When I finally reach someone in the office, they give me the run-around saying, "We will make this right for you."

It has now been three weeks of living with ceiling holes in two rooms and now, they do not even return my calls. They claim to be insured. I doubt it.

They sent out two different "painters" who came in, scratched their heads and told me to hire a contractor, not a painter because the ceilings need to be sheetrocked.

My family is visiting from out of state and we had the huge expense of putting them in a hotel because we have no guest bedroom or bathroom for them.

Three weeks after the damage, I finally reached the office and was told to "be patient" and "it's hard work finding a handyman" and 'Sheet rock is expensive so we're trying to get

a ceiling panel from somewhere since they discontinued those panels 30 years ago" and the best comment, "What are you complaining

about? I haven't BILLED YOU YET." I am at a complete loss. They obviously did not put in a claim to their insurance agency. They refuse to do the right thing and sheetrock my ceilings. Help me please!Desired Settlement: FIX the damage they did to my house!

I hired Penyak to put on a new roof.

I did not expect to have two rooms damaged in the process.

I am rejecting this response because: Penyak Roofing should be ashamed of themselves! For the past 6 weeks, my home has been in complete disarray - one bedroom and one bathroom are completely useless. My family visiting from out of state had to spend money on a hotel because I had no viable bedroom or bathroom for them. I have had to take 6 partial days off from my job to accommodate a parade of unskilled"handy" men who tramped through my home, scratching their heads and saying the job was too big for them. WHY would anyone NOT cooperate with the company who damaged their home if they were trying toreturn my home to its original condition?I asked for a licensed, insured contractor and they kept sending goofball handy men who wandered around my home dazed and confused. Every handyman they sent me told me the same story: "[redacted] Penyak will try to do a patch job because he always takes the cheap way out".6 days off work, a bunch of unlicensed, uninsured laborers, many unreturned calls ([redacted] Penyak should have phoned me the first day it happened: he finally called me one month after his employees damaged my home). They promised a "discount" on the roof invoice because of my major inconvenience. Instead, they sent a final bill with extra unauthorized charges- it is illegal to send an invoice until the job is completed. THE JOB IS NOT COMPLETED.6 weeks after the damages, they tell ME to find my own contractor! I wish I had done that in the first place, but they begged me to let them "make things right". 6 weeks later, Noting has been done. They say I don't call them....I wonder how we made 6 appointments for unskilled laborers to give estimates if we didn't speak?I have had to file a complaint with the NJ Dep't of Consumer Affairs. They explained that I have the right to have a LICENSED, INSURED general contractor fix my home. Penyak sent 5 unlicensed, uninsured handymen who didn't even have business cards, let alonea contracting license. It took me 5 weeks to get Penyak to send me their insurance carrier's name! They finally sent a licensed contractor - he installs WINDOWS! The guy smelled of marijuana and had trouble using his measuring tool.NO ONE should ever have to go through this nightmare simply because they had a new roof installed. Now, I must take more time from work to get estimates from REAL General Contractors. I don't trust that Penyak will pay for one of them to perform the repairs, so I am working with the Dep't of Consumer Affairs on that.

I am rejecting this response because:

Penyak Roofing is a rip-off. They padded my bill and delayed repair of damages their workers did to my house for OVER 2 MONTHS!The consumer should be warned about their deceptive business practices. I hope consumers are able to see my complaint so that they can be warnedabout negligent businesses such as Penyak Roofing.I had to file a complaint with the Revdex.com AND the NJ Consumer Affairs Dep't in order to resolve this complaint.Penyak still has not sent me my roof warranty. I suppose I'll need to file another complaint about that.I expect problems with the new roof after their shoddy work, so you'll hear from me again when I have to fight them to uphold their warranty.Let the public be warned!

Regards,

Review: My roof suddenly started to leak, so I called Penyak Roofing, being that they installed the roof in 2008 backed by a 10 workmanship warranty. They sent a technician out to investigate. He came out, discovered the issue. Basically what needs to be done is, tear off this area of roofing and redo it. In the weeks following the technicians trip to the house, I have not received any calls on the plan to rectify this issue, I call And talk to secretary with promises of return calls and get nothing. I want this company to stand behind the 10 year warranty and repair at zero cost to me as what a stand up company would do.Desired Settlement: To stand behind 10 year warranty.

Review: The company installed a new roof. Several items were damaged but fixed. One of the workers hands came through the skylight on the awning and they have not been able to find the material to fix it. They said they have been looking online and asked if I would take a financial arrangement. I said no I want it fixed. Its been about 6 weeks and still not repaired. They are not returning my phone calls. They left debris of nails wood and shingles all over my yard and driveway. Debris all over everything stored in my attic.Desired Settlement: I want the skylight on my awning fixed properly or replace the whole awning. I have left messages for them in the office and also told them once all repairs are completed to satisfactory I will pay them and we can all go on our separate ways.
