Review: JABB of PA a licensed contractor was hired to complete renovations in a home I purchased in March 2014. The contract included a basement remodel, updated master bathroom, sand and refinish the existing wood floors for $16,000. The contractor JABB of PA requested 1/2 payment upfront for materials. I paid the $8,000 up front as requested on March 26, 2014. I requested the work on the basement to begin immediately as the rental lease at the apartment we were renting termed May 1st. JABB agreed of the time perimeters before the contractor was excepted. From the onset of this arrangement I noticed that JABB owner [redacted] was doing all the work with little or no workers on site. JABB owner [redacted] is a union worker with a full time job for the city [redacted]. I was aware of this from the onset but [redacted] had communicated that he had 25+ workers within his company and the work would be completed by the timeline by his team with double shifts if needed. From the moment the check was cashed by Brian, I noticed nothing he promised was being provided. Work did not begin until 9 days after payment which would have been ok if this was communicated. Once work began [redacted] worked late evenings and alone primarily. Only but 2 occasions did I witness any other worker with the owner [redacted] Jones. JABB which now we realize consisted of [redacted] and another guy never worked an 8 hour day while on my job. Days went by [redacted] would not have worked on my home at all or no courtesy to return my calls when I called him numerous times to inquire what was going on. When [redacted] worked afternoons for a few hours when he got off early or late evenings apparently after he got off his full time city jobAs our time started to run out on the lease, I began to pressure him to get a team in to work daily and 8 hour days he did not comply. I questioned where the materials were that was purchased with the down payment? [redacted] responded that he did not intend to buy all at once. Work 11% completed as of 5/8 and [redacted] MIADesired Settlement: Refund for down payment $8000 minus the 11% of labor completed approximately $6500. Refund materials that I purchased 4/23 out of pocket as per [redacted] request for the change order on the roof repairs approximately $500.
