Jack Spade

I returned part of my purchase and Jack Spade refunded the balance first to a gift card used and then to my credit card.I purchased two bags as gifts with the intention of returning one after the recipient selected the preferred bag. To purchase these bags, I used a gift card and my credit card. I chose Jack Spade because I had a gift card and wanted to use it toward the gift of a bag. When I returned the bag the recipient didn't like, I received an email saying Jack Spade had returned the balance of the gift card for future use and the remaining balance f the return would be put on my credit card. As I wrote previously, I had intended to use the gift card on the gift otherwise I would not have purchased a bag from Jack Spade.As this practice of first refunding the gift card then the credit card is foreign to me, I called Jack Spade immediately upon receiving the email. I requested they refund the entire balance of the return to my credit card. They said they would put forward that request. Please note: this email and phone call occurred on 1/21/14. The deadline to return Christmas gifts was 1/25/14. Jack Spade did not get back in touch with me regarding my request until 1/29/14 - past the deadline to return Christmas gifts. After receiving their email on 1/29/14, I immediately responded that I found this to be unacceptable and wanted the entire balance of the return refunded to my credit card because, as I have stated above, I intended to apply the gift card to the bag. Jack Spade refuses to comply with my request. Their practice of refunding a gift card first is contrary to all of my experiences shopping with vendors. I now am in the same position I was in December - I have a gift card I need to use. Now, I have a gift card I need to use at a company that doesn't treat customers well and doesn't deserve my business.
