Jack Trout Fly Fishing & Guide Service

Review: On a recent vacation to Chile we chose to use Jack Trout guide service for fishing & to assist w/ lodging & in country flights as they stated their extensive experience. The problem was when we requested they use our credit card to set the reservations they refused. Using their card was how they did business in Chile. I should have known when we were told we would be charged 1/2 up front but the other 1/2 was to be in American cash due when we met in Chile. Upon our arrival the accommodations were less than advertised but we were unable to relocate as the charges were on Jack Trout's card. We would usually leave after one night if we didn't like a hotel & simply find another. Due to the non use of our credit card this was not an option. We do not travel in foreign countries w/ our laptops while on vacation. We finally received assistance from the hotel to get on an English speaking computer the night prior to my first guided fishing of the trip as we had not heard from Jack Trout since our arrival 4 days prior. It was at this point Mr. Trout made it known in an e-mail on December 24th that he would not be in country at all but had set up for another guide to handle everything. Mr. Trout must have been aware for some time of his inability to make it to Chile as it was a green card issue w/ his wife that prevented him from attending. I sent an e-mail to Jack stating we had a major issue. He was suddenly able to contact me by phone only to tell me how everything was handled. The guide was sufficient in his knowledge but I had to fish on another mans license as the guide was too hurried to obtain my legal license(not informed until later on). The original number of fishing days(7) was trimmed to (3) as prior commitments w/ another lodge prevented the guide from being able to. The final separation of services occurred when the guide requested I drive (2) hours to meet him for the 4th day that had been scheduled @ which point I declined. I did get another guide for another $400.00Desired Settlement: We originally paid Jack Trout guide service $1500.00 which was 1/2 the agreed amount for (7) days of guided fishing to include $200.00 for his wife's expertise in the country(minimal help).The guide that showed up was paid in cash a total of $1150.00 for(3) days. We have received charges on our credit card for an additional $1800.00. The original $1500.00 should be credited to the $1800.00 billed and the final $300.00 to the additional guide I purchased when this company could not perform.
