Jackson State Community College

In January 2011, I registered to attend classes but was unable to attend due to work schedule. Last year I received a bill stating I owed JSCC 529.00 and the department of education 995.00. I have repeatedly gotten different stories from this college. The last was last month from [redacted] in financial aid office that I attended class the first day then unofficially withdrew and that money was received by them from department of education and they had to pay it back so I owe them. How can I owe this money if I never attended any classes or received it? My tax refund check was adjusted 1011.00 to department of education because JSCC will not revocate that I never received this money and JSCC never sent the money back. JSCC committed fraud and will not own up to it. I need help with this. Student never withdrew from classes and atended English 1010 until January 18, 2011. Student officially received F grades for the 4 classes for which she enrolled. Student applied for and receive a [redacted] Grant for $2250. Student's outstanding balances were calculated by Financial Aid as follows: JSCC would be owed $529 for the amount returned to [redacted] per R2T4, "Students earn Title IV aid through attendance in the payment period or period of enrollment. The percent that the student earns is equal to the percent of the payment period or period of enrollment that the student completes. If the school has disbursed more aid than the student has earned, money must be returned to the Title IV programs." Student would also owe a federal overpayment of $986 (original [redacted] payment of $2250 minus the recalculated [redacted] payment of $562 and a voided check of $702. The federal overpayment would be owed to the ** Department of Education. All of these issues were addressed in the 2010-2011 Student Handbook. Also attached is a copy of the notification letter sent to student by Financial Aid on March 15, 2011.
