Review: On 5/24/13, took my car to Jackson's for them to test fans to see if they were getting power. Mr. Jackson said the test would not take long. I told them I just wanted them tested and to call me at work with outcome but NOT to do any work without calling. I was going out of town over the Memorial weekend. At 4:00p.m. they hadn't called so I called them, they said they had put fan sensor in the car, they didn't mention anything else. When I got to garage at 4:30 Mr. Jackson said I could not drive my car that it wasn't safe. They had tried to replace the fan sensor without my permission and stripped it out, my car was pouring antifreeze.I talked to the man that had worked on the car. I said I told you not to do anything to the car and that sensor was new because my son had put it in last year. He said "I know it was new but I thought you might have got a bad one". I was prepared to go out of town after I picked the car up. They were locking up for the weekend. I asked Mr. Jackson if they had stripped the sensor out by putting too much pressure on it and he smiled and said"I don't know".I was in total shock. Mr. Jackson drove my car into the garage and locked garage, said he would come back at 7:00p.m. and fix it. I called the garage at 7:15 but there was no answer. At 8:00, spoke to him on phone at his house. He said he had gone back to the garage and tore my car down, he would have to put intake in the car and another man was going to help him work on it 5/25/13 but not to worry, his man had done it & it was at no expense to me. Saturday, I picked the car up, he had filled it with JB Weld.I talked to him on 5/28/13, he said he would pay 100.00 for damages which has now gone up by 50's to 250.00.I got an estimate on the damages from a certified mechanic, cost is 729.45 +20.00 estimate charge, mechanic told me not to drive car long distances. I know that JB Weld is only a temporary fix and have talked to other mechanics about this, they agree. He needs to take responsibility for his mistake.Desired Settlement: My car was fine when I took it to Jackson's. I was ready to get on the interstate for a 5 hour drive to see my son for Memorial weekend. I want the full estimate from the certified mechanic paid. My car is not safe to drive, my son had to bring me his to use. My job requires me to travel and this has really been stressful and unfair to me. The reason I wanted fans tested was car was heating when going up mts. but I trusted my car and now can't. I would like to settle without going to court.

Response:the car had a heating problem the customer had stated that the car had been over heating for a year....I removed the temperature switch and replaced it with a new switch and it leaked coolant after checking I found a small crack in the housing... I think the crack came from the cars excessive over heating but I was still going to repair her car until I found coolant in the motor oil and oil in the coolant and knew that the motor was down....I told her to take it to a shop that done motor work and have the motor rebuilt and I would have a new intake sent to that shop...I don't think that its my responsibility to fix her car she knew that it had a very serious heating problem and she still drove the car for a year......I repaired the crack with high temperature epoxy and I told the customer that the epoxy would last longer than the motor .... the repairs I made had nothing to do with the coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant system... Mr. Jackson didn't tell me to take the car to another shop or that he would buy an intake for the car and send it to the shop for them to use the part in their repairs. This is the first time that I am hearing this. I had my car pressure tested shortly before taking it to his garage to see if there where any leaks and there weren't any. He knows that he is at fault and he is now trying to get out of his responsibility to take care of the damage. He called my house and left a message that he was sorry for the damage and he was going to fix the car because "his man had done it". I called him back and he said the intake would have to be replaced and someone else was going to help him with the repairs. I really think he didn't think I would question the JB Weld he used to repair the leak he caused and I would be happy thinking my car was fixed. There was not any oil in my antifreeze because I also had the car checked for that. Every time I tried to reach an agreement with him, he has talked about the car being old. I would think that if someone damages something no matter what the age that they are responsible for fixing it. The car was not leaking when I drove it to his garage that day. I am not trying to get him to fix whatever problems he is saying is wrong with the car I just want him to pay me for the damage that he did to the car. My car has been parked at my house ever since the certified mechanic that gave me the estimate told me not to drive it for long distances. This is a rural place, every where I need to go is a long distance. He is suppose to be a mechanic and any mechanic knows that JB Weld will not hold. My car is ruined because of what was done at his garage. I was driving my car everyday and taking it every where I needed to go. I had to borrow a car from a family member and am using that one now. We do need to resolve this matter. Regards,[redacted]
