James Byler Windows and Doors Reviews (7)

James came to my home for an estimate. Later that week we signed a contract and we gave him $575 down payment. He called 2 days before the scheduled installation date to cancel. He then pushed the date later. After 2 months of nothing we asked for our money back. James said he needed a few weeks to pay us back. We haven't heard from him in months. We have filed a civil suit against JAMES BYLER.

It's now January 2019 and James Byler is still scamming people. He sold me windows "that his father manufacturers." He measured my windows, I paid a down payment of $975, and we both signed a contract. Two months later he said, "they are almost done." Three months later I asked for my money back. He ignored multiple texts and phone calls asking for my money back. Then he texted and said he'd send it back. I never heard from him again. The address on the contract is no good. I have found no evidence he ever lived there.

[redacted] from James Byler Windows and Doors ([redacted] ) was suppose to install my windows today via being a sub-contractor. He cancelled the day of because he had a bigger job. He knew on a Friday that he could not do the job but did not cancel until the morning of which is Monday. After I removed blinds and moved furniture. He could have cancelled the night before and saved me from moving furniture and blinds

When I told he I was unhappy about him cancelling, he gave an uncaring response with a "I apologize".

Then when I told him we really should have told me on Friday instead of Monday, he went on about how busy he was. and he works 6 days a week. Then told me he was done talking to me.

Instead of trying to reschedule and sincerely apologize, he told me I was making him feel like [redacted] and I wasn't him main job. His main job takes over little jobs so that is why he cancelled. Even though he committed to do the work. If a better job comes about he will stand you up. Then he told me I was itic and he wasn't going to do the job. [redacted] is very rude and unprofessional. Please be advised do not use him if you want to save yourself a lot of grief.

Review: In simple terms, James Byler gave me an estimate to install windows in my house. We agreed on May 24th for install. I gave him $575 down payment on May 3rd. He cashed the check 5 days later. May 22nd (2 days before the install date) he called to cancel and reschedule for Mid June. After that he would not answer any calls from my phone (only text messages). We agreed if he couldn't install before July 1st he would refund our money. July 1st came and he texted that he needed a few weeks to pay us back. This complaint is being written on August 5th and we still haven't heard from him.Desired Settlement: $575.00 for Down payment

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by James Byler Windows and Doors regarding complaint ID [redacted]. A civil complaint had been filed and a constable was given the information. He later revealed that although the address given was being used and mail was being received, James Byler had successfully avoided being served the court notice.
