James K. Tharp, Jr., Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I had a new roof installed by K & K 4 years ago. It started leaking on 5/14/2014 [redacted] Tharp from K & K enterprises said my 10 year warranty and all house on the lake warranties are void because of 90mph winds from hurricane Sandy. [redacted] took a look at my roof and claimed some branches on my roof many have cause the damage as another reason for voiding the warranty. I have images provided by [redacted] these are all small sticks, nothing that should damage a properly installed roof. The roof as of now shows no physical signs of damage from extreme weather/acts of nature, all shingles are in place and look healthy original Warranty and limitations will repair any defects in workmanship on materials that have been installed Warranty last for 10 years. No mention of wind speeds and hurricanes. It only mentions tornadoes, falling trees and acts of nature beyond control.I do not in any reasonable way see how any of the reason provided by [redacted] would void my warranty based on my paperwork. I believe both of the reason are excuses to get out of warranting the roof install.Multiple estimates from other contractors suggest installation problems. And they see no logical reason why my original warranty should have been voidedDesired Settlement: Honor my warranty for the remainder of the original terms, repair the issues and correct the issues that have been brought to my attention.

Response:

I was contacted by [redacted]. The next day I went to his house to investigate. I found multiple branches on the roof over the area where a minor leak is occurring. I asked [redacted] where these branches could have come from there was a new house built next to his house where the builder cut down trees within 20 feet of [redacted]s house. These branches from these trees landed on [redacted]s house right in the area where the leak is happening. When branches fall from high distances they pick up speed which could cause small punctures or break tab adhesion on existing shingles.
