James Tigh Construction Reviews (1)

Review: On April 4, 2014 we hired James Tigh Construction to do our renovations for our kitchen. We were promised that the work would be completed within 2-3 weeks max. Total cost for our renovation for labor was supposed to be $ 6500. James Tigh stated that we don't have to pay any labor cost until the renovations were completed. We paid all building materials out of pocket. The first week James Tigh Construction worked only 3 days due to the fact that they needed an electrician and had stopped work due to this fact. After the first week of 04/07/14 our kitchen was totally gutted out with no running water, stove and microwave. We ended up getting our own electrician and paying from our own pocket $ 300 because they failed to provide one in a timely manner. The Second week 04/14/14, James Tigh construction worked only 2 days on our load bearing wall that needed to be completed as soon as possible. We called James Tigh co. multiple times due to the fact they were not showing up every day and did not have any schedule as to when they were going to be onsite. We tried to reach jame tigh by phone calls, emails and text messages however we did not get a response. After the second week James Tigh asked for a partial payment of $2000. We gave him the payment in the hope that they would finish up the work soon. They started work on the third week 04/21/14 and fourth week 04/28/14 and showed up 2 days per work week. By the end of the fourth work week 04/28/14 our floor was not level , our cabinet doors were misaligned so bad that we couldnt open them up on a few of them. The Crown molding in the dining room had been torn down and hanging off the wall. Our house and living conditions had become very disasters and stressful due to the fact that we did not have a stove, microwave, running water, furniture and dust were all over the place and we were stuck with what they had done or not done. After the fourth week james tigh asked for another payment of $ 2000. Which we had paid again in the hope that he would complete and fix everything in the kitchen as far the floors and cabinets were concerned. By the 5th week 05/05/14 and 6th week 05/12/14 we had a list of items that were so bad and that needed to be competed, corrected and or removed. After second payment, James Tigh ignored our list of issues and did not respond at all either by phone, email and certified letter. We ended up hiring another contractor on 7th week to complete and correct a lot of the issues that james Tigh failed to address and complete. This cost us a lot more in material and labor than what we had budgeted for . We ended up spending up lot more money eating out because our kitchen want completed and had left us financially stressed.Desired Settlement: At this time we would like to get a full refund of $ 4000 that we paid him due to the fact that he did not fulfill his contract obligations.
