Jason Clark Landscaping

Review: I contracted Jason Clark Landscaping to build a patio and wall at my home in [redacted] on July 15, 2011. Mr. Clark assured me that the jobs would only take 2-3 weeks and I gave him a 50% deposit. Work began promptly within a couple days, but then it stopped for two weeks. I contacted Mr. Clark and he said he was unable to meet his payroll for his men and wanted me to make another payment so he could get his men back on my job, which I did. Another week passed and several men showed up to continue work for 2 days, then left again. Upon contacting Mr. Clark again, he told me that he was in the middle of a foreclosure on his home and asked if I could advance him $5000 against future projects we had discussed. Foolishly I gave him a check, backed up by the appropriate contract with his signature and witness signature. Work began again, but quickly stopped again. This continued throughout the summer and well into the next Spring. During this period, I began to research Mr. Clark and found that he and his company have many outstanding levies and judgements against him for a number of different issues. It was not until the work completely stopped that I discovered that Mr. Clark had been arrested and was in jail for not paying for the materials for my project! The work was never completed and he, nor his men, never came back to finish.I would definitely suggest avoiding any contact with Mr. Clark or his company.Desired Settlement: I would like the remaining balance of money for work not completed refunded to me.
