I don't recall a phone call asking me to stop out and meet with him, however in 2008/2009 I was personally going through some major health issues so it's possible I just couldn't personally meet with him at the time. I have looked over the issues of the roof [redacted] has, and I agree 100% that these issues needs addressed. I am more than willing to personally stop in at the house with my crew and make all necessary repairs in a timely fashion. Also since the workmanship warranty is close to ending I will extend the warranty for an additional 10-years. My company installs over 100 residential roofs a year in the [redacted] area and word of mouth and referrals are a very important part of our business, so I look forward to [redacted] call so we can make all the necessary repairs to his home.Respectfully summitedJeffrey S. Review: The very first year, leaks in the roof caused water spots on the living room and kitchen ceilings. Another leak where the garage meets the house caused water damage around a bedroom window. I complained numerous times and was never able to speak directly with the owner Jeffrey B[redacted] even when I specifically asked. Instead, on no less than four occasions, a worker showed up with tar to repair the roof and told me that everything was fixed even though a number of my complaints, such as faulty drip edges and incorrectly installed or missing flashing, could not be fixed by applying tar. After experiencing ongoing water problems with the roof, and after seeing bare plywood at the roof edge while I was cleaning the gutters, I paid to have a roof inspection completed (see enclosed summary). In May 2015, a certified home inspector found these deficiencies to name but a few:Areas where ice and water shield was not installedPlaces where ice and water shield was installed without a starter course per manufacturers recommendationRoof drip edge moldings that were reused and not replacedDrip edge molding that is loose and falling out in places with uneven areas noted due to improper fasteners used to secure the drip edgeKick-out flashings were not installed where the garage wall butts to the house wall causing water to enter behind the siding and run down around the bedroom window.Heavy tar seals were noted around the kitchen and chimney areas to stop previous leaking that has occurred since installation. Tar is simply a band-aidPrior to the home inspection, I discussed these roof problems with a licensed general contractor, a licensed gutter contractor, and a licensed roofing contractor. All of them spoke of shoddy workmanship, shortcuts, and things that were not done: correctly; to code; or to manufacturers specifications. For example, the general contractor could not even find any felt paper installed on the garage portion of the roof. J.B. Roofings contract calls for all work being done to code and manufacturers specifications. Clearly, this was not done and I have the documentation to prove it.Desired Settlement: At this point, I have very little confidence in J.B.Roofings willingness or ability to correct any of these problems. J.B. Roofings contract refers to an exclusive 10-year workmanship guarantee on 100% of all labor. Clearly, we should be compensated for the damaging short-cuts that have been documented and subsequent reparations which will need to be completed by a competent roofer. Most importantly, the public needs to be protected from a licensed contractor with so little regard for his customers.
