Review: We contracted out to have various jobs done on our home from December of 2012 through Jan 2013. The [redacted] wrote all the deals and gave us what we perceived as a fair deal. As per his request and perhaps stupidly , we paid him everything up front. Then he apparently became extremely busy with other projects and was unable to schedule us. Week after week, which became month after month passed by, with [redacted] continuing to put us off.We remained patient, because there always was some excuse for him not to be able do the work.

Then in August of 2013, with [redacted] no longer returning our callls, we contacted the [redacted]. ,since JD Home Remodeling was their contractor and this is how we came in contact with them. And to our surprise [redacted] then returned our call and was very agreeable to finishing the work, which he said he couldnt start till September. When the date in September came, JD Remodeling ie [redacted] never showed up and would not return any calls.

[redacted] ,in preparing our home for the work , ripped out the skylight, tore up the kitchen countertops, pulled off the old backsplash, and took off all the old molding. This is the condition the home remains to this day.Desired Settlement: At this juncture ,we can no longer trust J.D Home Remodeling to finsh the work owed us. We would like a refund.

Review: We are two people in our sixties who were left in a mess and with a large amount of our savings used for a renovation that we had dreamed about but was never completed. What had been done, remained faulty and in need to be redone costing additional savings that we had planned on using for our future lifetime. We were left worse off than before the project started. We had a completely functioning bathroom and kitchen before only to be left (in one of the coldest winter's in many, many years) with no insulated window in our bathroom (just a boarded up hole in the wall), no bathroom sink (unhealthy- had to utilize kitchen sink to wash hands after using the toilet, for shaving, etc.) dangerous and unsightly wires, pipes, 2x4s, holes in the kitchen walls and less cabinets (foodstuff and utensils sit on table making it unusable to eat on). Holidays went by with no family or friends able to visit in the condition that the rooms were left in. Please refer to the photos attached. Contractor collected an amount as partial payment of money contracted for bathroom and kitchen renovation, roofing and other various fixes that never happened. An additional amount of money was necessary to pay out to another company to finish the mess that Contractor left in the bathroom. It will take more money to fix kitchen (which remains an eyesore and less useable than before start of renovation) and other contracted completions. The work that was performed on a totally functioning 5'X5' bathroom prior to Contractor deserting the project is as follows: Removed bathtub, sink and toilet and moved plumbing for each to other areas in room - never replaced sink. Extended a wall 29"X20" into kitchen - never started kitchen renovation just destruction - now has less cabinets, pipes and electrical sticking out, walls with holes in them, molding removed and 2'X4's in plain sight. Removed an existing window, cut into wall for a new casement window leaving a 46"X17" hole and boarded up opening - never installed a window, never tiled inside nor shingled outside. Removed wall to adjacent closet and replaced it with waterproof sheetrock where a recess had been made - never set up remainder as closet again. Moved bedroom electric switch - didn't fill in and finish the old switch opening, new opening and related wires need to be covered. Installed 4 recessed lights in ceiling and wiring for light above medicine cabinet - incomplete lighting cans, new medicine cabinet never hung. Installed air vent into ceiling - nowhere for ventilation to go. Built shower wall with an opening and tiled outside portion - some tiles pointed and sticking out further than others, opening never glassed in - needs glass pane. Removed shower curtain bar - never replaced nor were new safety bars and handles installed. Created and tiled inside shower - did not use agreed upon shower head, not finished around where showerhead meets wall, hot and cold water not matched with handle designations. Installed shower pan, drain and floor - floor not properly pitched for drainage; water sits in puddles on floor. Tiled shower floor and lip - some tiles sticking up more than others and hurt when stepped on, some tiles don't exactly match others (maybe used a different brand), tiles incomplete around drain. Leveled floor - too high with no proper molding at doorway to allay tripping at door entrance and hurting oneself; door left unable to close for privacy. Tiled half walls around 3 sides of room - new towel bars and toilet tissue holder never installed. Painted ceiling and remainder of 3 walls - needs sanding and repainting, molding not replaced - new molding needs to be installed. Installed floor tile - some tiles are not flat on floor. Installed toilet - needs to be tightened and sealed, seat attached incorrectly, additional parts not attached, water wire not installed so that it is inconspicuous. Removed bedroom door and molding - both need to be rehung. All tile on walls and floors need re-grouting. Please refer to the attached photos of some of the mess left by Contractor at our residence.Desired Settlement: We would like to receive a refund for entire amount of funds paid to Contractor.
