Review: Contracted with J.E. Laylan on 5/30 to do siding and windows & paid $7500 deposit. Contractor contacted me on 9/9 stating that the wholesaler told him the siding had been delivered to someone else (no one from his company) and he had no recourse because he had paid in cash and not gotten a receipt or invoice. Contractor asked us for next deposit not due until after construction was completed to repurchase the materials. He also offered to pay us back our deposit as an alternative. We decided not to pay again for materials and on 11/25 made the decision to use a different contractor. [redacted] then said if we gave him yet another week he thought he could come up with a solution that did not involve us having to pay more. But that solution did not come any time in the two previous months we gave him to resolve the situation until we decided to use someone else. In spite of the original offer to refund us, communication has now stopped since we asked for it.Desired Settlement: $7000 refund of our deposit. The remaining $500 we are willing to forgive in consideration of his assistance with measurement and ordering of our windows.
