I am rejecting this response because:
It seems the owner now admits that his assumption about the tents on the lawn as an incorrect assumption, and we simply played a game on the lawn. However, the rest of the owner’s claim is still full of incorrect assumptions. He assumes someone stood on his chair. He assumes that someone threw something at his doorI continue to tell the truth on both of these issues. My year old son, who is 4’ 11” and weighs pounds sat on the chair and fell straight through the middle of the nylon webbing. I can see how it might look like someone stood on it, but that is not the case. Based on the condition of both of the chairs, I would guess they were 7-years old and left out in the conditions. They both needed replacing anyway. I would challenge the owner to sit on the other chair, as it was in a similar conditionAs for the door, the owner seems to have changed his description. In the email he originally sent to my wife, there was a "dent/scratch". Now it is a “gouge”. Again, I have no idea how that happened, but I can assure you it was not from our group. Maybe it was from a group before or after us, but we didn’t cause itI will now cite a few other issues with the cabin because I believe they speak to the overall condition of the cabin and the owner’s care for the cabin. There were weeds growing in the eves on the house. The garage roof was completely covered in moss. One of the recliners leaned sideways when it was reclined. There was water leaking from the freezer into the refrigerator; there was a pan in the refrigerator to collect the water. One of the bedrooms had a curtain instead of a door. This cabin in no way was in the pristine condition the owner would like to claim. The chairs needed to be replaced; luckily my son didn’t get hurt The doors were hollow, not solid oak 6-panel doors. The “damage” that occurred, had we actually been responsible for it, in no way would add up to $400. My wife also requested an invoice for the damages. We never received thatAlthough the “use of the cabin booklet” told us not to clean the cabin because it was our vacation, we cleaned it until it was spotless, including vacuuming the entire place, the morning we left. We treated the cabin like it was our own, because this is the type of respectful people that we are. My wife left a note explaining what happened to the chair because that is the type of respectful people that we are. We could have hidden it in the corner of the deck, under the table (where it originally was) and it may not have been discovered. But that is not the type of people that we are
