J.J. Construction Reviews (1)

Review: Mr. [redacted] upgraded the shower pipes behind the wall and installed a new faucet. The work was completed in June, 2012 and he initiated addressing any problems that might arise.

On Friday, February 8th, the shower handle broke and the shower became inoperable. I called Mr. [redacted] on Sunday, February 10th and left a message that I could no longer take a shower. I followed up with another call on Monday and Mr. [redacted] claimed he received my message and intended to return the call.

We agreed that he would stop by after 5:00 pm the evening of Monday, February 11th; he did not show or return my calls. Monday night I phoned him using another person's phone and Mr. [redacted] answered. He angrily apologized for not returning my call and I agreed to be available up to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 12th. Approximately 11:30 am on Tuesday, I left a message informing him that I would be leaving home after 12:00 pm; he did not call that day. On February 17th, still unable to take a shower, I wrote a letter to Mr. [redacted] detailing my problem and asked that he contacts me. To date I have not heard from him.

In trying to address the problem myself, I was informed that a poor quality fixtured was installed, and the said problem would occur if the same replacement is used. To install any other shower handle, the entire pipe system, which includes working behind the wall, would have to be changed.Desired Settlement: Given the complexity of changing the shower head, I would prefer to be reimbursed for the product and replacement cost. Initially, I was willing to give Mr. [redacted] the opportunity to repair the shower head.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,

This is in response to the complaint filed on 3/5/2013 by [redacted].

This complaint is caused by a misunderstanding. I did complete the work in a professional manner on June, 2012 as stated. I finished the job on site and she was aware of it. I do guarantee my work when finished but not the defective product or materials (the shower head). If this was broken after the job was done, it is the owner's responsibility to have that fixed by any other company. In order for myself to fix the showerhead, it would be considered another job and would not be free as she wanted. If she broke the shower head, it has nothing to do with the work that I completed to her shower.

Unfortunately the days she had tried to get in contact with me, I was very busy and I could not attend to this matter. I also cannot reimburse anything to Ms. [redacted] because I was not responsible for a faulty product that she bought.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,

I am responding to the rebuttal sent to me on March 29, 2013. I do not feel I am under any circumstances to resolve the issue in a form that satisfies [redacted]. I had stated that I am not responsible for the broken s shower head she purchased. Therefore, I cannot resolve any further issues regarding the complaint.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint.

Deliberately avoiding my complaint issue is Mr. [redacted]’ way of denying his poor workmanship. Again, the “shower handle” broke, not the shower head. I had no input regarding the faucet set and saw it only after he brought it home. The shower head which I purchased and he mounted on the wall, still functions properly. In less than a year, the need to replace a faulty installed faucet and address other plumbing issues, question Mr. [redacted]’ professionalism; so does making appointments which he had no intention of keeping.
