We are in receipt of your letter dated July 6, 2016 regarding Mr. [redacted] and his roof vent. He first brought our attention to this issue back on October 26, 2014, stating some water leaked through during a storm with heavy rain and wind. The roofer was sent out to investigate on October 30, 2014...
andnothing was found, however the roofer did some resealing as a precaution. The problem appeared to be rectified and we didn't hear anything back from Mr. [redacted] on this issue until January 11, 2015.When Mr. [redacted] contacted our office on January ll, 2015 he was already on the schedule for a warranty appointment the following day January 12, 2015. Because this was an intermittent problem and only happening during the extreme cold weather months, the problem was thought to be snow entering thevent than melting. At the customer's request we replaced the vent stack with a taller one.On February 28, [redacted] contacted us stating that the range hood was no longer working and the various things they tried to get it back on. Paul M[redacted] called and spoke to [redacted] on March 2,2015. After further investigation, it was determined that the leak was actually condensation from the vent pipe of the range hood, again this situation happening only during periods of extreme cold weather. Paul M[redacted] explained to Mr. [redacted] that with the snow and ice we had to wait till weather permitting (spring) before we could address the issue During this waiting period, [redacted] was working on obtaining a replacement range hood from Home Depot. Because the same hood was on backorder For several weeks he ordered a similar model, but after it was delivered Paul determined it was too different and we were unable to install it. Once the correct range hood model became available at the end of April, Paul ordered it, replaced the range hood and disconnected the venting to the roof and rerouted the venting through the side wall. Paul and [redacted] initially discussed the removal of the vent stack from the roof at this time. It was explained to Mr.[redacted] that we were not going to remove it and that it was disconnected, but beneficial to the house and attic because it allowed for ventilation.Mr. [redacted] disagreed with Paul M[redacted]'s decision and continued to call him on his cell phone to discuss the issue over the course of several months. Along with emails to the office beginning in November 2015 from [redacted] about removing the disconnected vent from the roof. After such time myself and Paul discussed the matter with the owner/builder, Joe G[redacted]. He decided as a courtesy he would remove the vent pipe from the roof but it would have to wait until late June.As you can see from the time line 1 have presented, we were in contact with him every step of the way and were attentive to the issue he had and resolved it as quickly as possible. I want to also add that wehave taken care of all his other warramy issues as well in a quick and timely manner. We have alwaysbeen professional, courteous and respectful to Mr. [redacted] whenever he has called the office or sent anemail. Subsequently, before we were aware of your letter or the complaint Paul M[redacted] was scheduled to be at Mr. [redacted]'s house and removed the vent from the roof on July 11, 2016.Sincerely, .~ JMG Custom
