J.P. Contracting Reviews (1)

Review: Contractor guaranteed that after removing Living Room rug and Hall and replacing with oak hardwood it would match our existing hardwood kitchen floor after sanding and refinishing..Kitchen floor was sanded to bare wood and the living room rug was replaced with hardwood oak flooring. Initially contractor was suppose to lay the hard wood down on living room floor and hall before nailing..HE DID NOT.. he installed floor with quite a few of very dark boards. (we spoke to the distributor of flooring and they stated a 5% overage is given so as floor was being install the DARK boards could be avoided. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. The contractor left his employee to lay the floor down. On one occasion he came back to get his employee and take him to another job site because of trouble he was having with another flooring job. We did not see him till the next day. We told him on many occasions to take his time and not to worry about us getting back into the house because we had a place to stay if necessaryWe were told on MANY occasions do not worry the floors will match. Promises were made and not kept. A few days after job was competed I contacted Phil the owner and asked him to please come by and just look at the end results...Kitchen floor did NOT match Living room.Sanding marks on all the edges of our kitchen. Very noticeable! Very different and there were many BLACK boards. All I asked him to do was come back and take a look just take a look to see if he could correct this and perhaps remove a few boards. The black ones. He said to me in a text message "I will make time to see you soon." When we spoke on the phone he kept saying what do you want me to do and I said "I only want you to come to my house and look at my floor" I did say to him " you and your partner stood next to me in between the kitchen and the living room and said to me " Don't worry the floor will match and you will never see the difference and his answer to me was " WELL I GUESS I MADE A MISTAKE"Desired Settlement: Since the contractor has made no effort to resolve this issue, and has stated he was better off not doing anything (after initially agreeing)because replacing a few boards would lead to re-sanding the whole area, and he didn't want to do that. Since the contractor has not even made an effort to visit the job site and review the results. We would like a refund of the cost of the contract. The contract was for $4800.00, paid in cash. This will allow us to have the floor repaired by someone else.
