J.R. Paving

Review: In November 2012, JR Paving were verbally engaged to replace my driveway. They gave me an estimate to perform the work over the phone of $700, promised to provide a receipt upon completion and told me that workmanship would be guaranteed for up to 3 years. I left them a check for $700 and they performed the work. However, they never left me a proposal or other written contract. I called them 4 times and each time was promised a copy of the contract but I never received a copy. In February, only 4 months after the driveway was installed, I noticed that the driveway was starting to crumble and contacted them on the phone and asked them again to send me my contract with the guarantee and let me know what can be done. In March, I sent them a certified letter requesting that they contact me. This week I called [redacted], a reputable contractor that has performed work for the townhouse community where I live. [redacted] told me that the job had not been completed properly, there were too many layers on the driveway and that is why it is crumbling. It was not properly "prepped" prior to installing the new driveway. They quoted me a price of $1100 to fix my driveway and provided me with a written proposal. Their proposal has a one year guarantee which is standard in the industry.Desired Settlement: I would like the all or a portion of the $700 refunded to me so that I can apply that toward my nerw driveway with another contracter.
