My new husband & I decided to replace our tonneau with a cap, specifically to give us protected storage for transport and shelter in bad weather while on an extended camping trip. We discussed our needs with the local rep and my husband insisted we were getting the best cap on the market.
We drove 3000 miles.
Everything we owned was covered in road grime.
It rained for several days. I have pictures of the trails of water leakage through the dust, especially at the front corners and windows. There was no dry shelter for us or our belongings.
When we returned, we sent pictures to the local dealer, and stopped in. He said there were no refunds. Upon inspection, he admitted that the seals were inconsistent and gaps were "normal." His remedy was to clamp it down tighter. He said he would speak to the company (his hands were tied and our issue was with Leer).
He did not get back to us.
I wrote and called the company. I received zero response. They don't make it easy to reach a live person.
I have rarely been so dissatisfied with a product. We wasted thousands of dollars, imo.
"I'd expected to have a secure, clean dry place for my things and (in bad weather) for myself and my husband. I am wholeheartedly disappointed with my purchase. I felt disgusted with the amount of dirt covering everything which limited my use and enjoyment of my vehicle tremendously."
My husband trusted a reputation that is no longer accurate; if you look for reviews, they aren't positive. My fingers are crossed that we won't experience the numerous other problems others have and that are unlikely to be resolved by this company, as it appears that they do not stand behind their product or warranty.
Sadly, after our trip and return, it was too late to dispute with my credit card company, so I feel I have no recourse.
I hope this review saves others the grief and hassle I've experienced. No one in my family or friends will ever do business with Leer again.
I purchased a camper shell from *** mobile, al in feb or March of 2019. A few moths later I noticed paint peeling around the poorly fitting windows. Upon closer inspection I noticed many other manufacturing defects and flaws. I approached leer and the dealer about these issues. Leer took 3 weeks to respond to a message on ***. After deciding my best course of action was to have the top send back for repairs, I had the dealer remove the top. I marked every issue I could find and labeled them. I was told 3-4 weeks for my top to be returned. It’s now been almost 2 months. I have since asked the dealer for a refund. However, I haven’t heard anything. There was also damage to the finish on my truck from the poorly manufactured top. I’m still awaiting response from leer to see if they will correct this issue. I have already lost hundreds of dollars in interest and fees relating to this top purchase as well as a cab/camper boot which is non refundable. I have repeatedly tried to get
In touch with leer but they have no published phone number. Someone checks their social media and replies with a generic response.
I purchased a Leer Truck Cap for my 2018 *** on March 05, 2019 from *** in Bear, Delaware for $3,575.00. Upon installation I observed a few issues with the cap that were defects from the factory, and had nothing to do with the satellite dealer I purchased the cap from. I filled out a complaint on the Leer website, and never received a response. Furthermore, I made several attempts to move forward with Leer Customer Service via *** Messenger with negative results. Leer has failed to follow through with any customer service regarding my complaint. My complaint was the following:
1. The rear window hatch is off center by approximately 1/4 inch, and as a result there is minor water leakage into the truck bed area. This also makes the rear hatch difficult to close and lock at times.
2. Straight from the factory there were areas of the carpeted headliner that were already worn through, mostly on edges.
3. Two of the storage locker locks were not working properly. *** in Bear, Delaware resolved that issue.
4. The Leer Logo located on the driver side rear of the cap was installed crooked.
5. The Thule roof rack had several logo stickers missing as well.
For the amount of money I paid for this product, the overall finish quality is not satisfactory to me. Attention to detail should be considered with every product. Please be advised that I waited this long to file an official complaint, because I gave Leer the benefit of the doubt after I was told three times someone would contact me - but never did. I have all my email communications saved, and screen shots of my contact with Leer via *** Messenger. Since I utilize my vehicle as well as this cap for daily business activities, I do not have the time or resources to send it back. I am requesting a billing adjustment for the less than satisfactory work, and the poor customer service with Leer. Let me be clear that *** in Bear, Delaware did an outstanding job. My problem is with Leer direct.
On Oct. 27, 2017 the back window of my *** tuck cap broke. At which time I filed an insurance claim and repairs were granted. I first went to *** where to cap was purchased and installed. I waited 3 weeks for the new back window & was getting nowhere with ***, so I decided to go to *** another Leer Truck Cap dealer. They contacted Leer and was first told they had the replacement part in stock than the 2nd time they notified Leer was told it was out of stock. I myself have sent Leer 4 e-mails with no response. It has been 7 weeks since Leer was contacted and neither my dealer or myself have gotten any information in regards to the replacement for my window.
