I was hired to re-roof we discovered some damage not included in the roof bid they paid additional repairs by discovery months later they had an inspection discovered other repairs called me I responded promptlywe agreed They would pay additional repairs in the rear I would cover the repair
on the front side in the sheetingwe also agreed to install a trim over the entire gable end where there was minor rot damage and the owner could repair the end of the gable end when they paintedOr option was to have us repair it by the bid I sent him a proposal she said it was fine repair as I stated because they were selling the house and trying to stay on budgetThey agreed to pay for the repair on the rear and to this date have not paid for that repair. please note if the additional repairs would have been discovered they would have paid for them @ the time of the roof job so why after the fact did they ecpsct us to work for freeadditionally they paid another contractor for the repairs. I offered to do the repairs

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: When you hire a contractor to do work on your home, is it not against their code of conduct to leave visiblearly dry rot and simply roof over it or not inform the home owner in the first place? We trusted that the roofer would fix all areas of our roof that needed replaced or repaired. The fact that we almost lost the sale on our home and had to negotiate price for 4 weeks with the buyerest as well as make these costly additional repairs happened directly due to this businesses negligence. The only reason the secondary work was covered up was because the roof would have needed to be removed along he gable in order to remove the rotten gable and replace it as the inspection indicated. This business offered to do the work for no fee on the front of the house  (gable) was becauae the work was not done- it was covered up with a piece of sending. The inspector who re-inspected informed the buyer as well as us that the rotten gable underneath could be an attractant for termites that would spread to the rest of the house. When [redacted] repeatedly asked if this "trim" was in agreeance with what the inspection report we email, David continued to say it was. When our realtor called as well as when [redacted] called, David as verbally inappropriate by cursing at both men--- then saying that he wouldn't complete work for less than a grand. After the way that he spoke to everyone involved and how he lied and simply covered up a problem that should have been completely repaired, how cold a business relationship be salvaged? Also, staying on a budget was not permission to cover the problem up even after we informed David that we were legally agreeing to replace it. If a contractor is going to subcontract a roof in the first place then they need to understand that they are responsible for the work that they do.
