Review: On 11/**/13 - My Vehicle was removed from a "blocked driveway" at [redacted] from Mark's Automotive Inc. Towing company. Upon searching for my car by contacting 311 and the [redacted], I was able to locate my car which was at Mark's Automotive Inc. lot located at [redacted] - Tel: ###-###-####. When I called the towing company the owner indicated that I would have to pay $300.00 (not including NYC traffic ticket) to retrieve my car from the parking lot, upon my refusal of the outrageous amount he lowered the amount to $280 and again $260. Upon my arrival to the address [redacted], there was another young lady retrieving her vehicle as well and she was being charged $125.00 for the the towing and $25.00 for administration fee and the explanation given by the gentlemen was that her case was a reposession and therefore the fees are different. My charges were total of $260.00 paid in cash for $175.00 for towing and administration fee of $65.00 (I have the receipt of such with letter of release). In accordance to NY ADC LAW 19-169 NY code 19-169 it indicates on paragraph 8. Notwithstanding the charges permitted to be collected under subdivision c of section 20-519 of this code, a person who removes a vehicle pursuant to section 19-169 of this code may collect the following charges from the owner or other person in control of such vehicle, payable before the vehicle is released: one hundred dollars for removal and the first three days of storage; ten dollars per day for storage thereafter, except that no charge may be collected for removal or storage of a vehicle pursuant to this section by a person who is not licensed to engage in towing pursuant to subchapter thirty-one of chapter two of title twenty of the code. - See more at: [redacted]. I strongly believe that Mark's Automotive Inc. towing company is running an unethical business and is scamming victims from retrieving their cars by imposing excessive administration and towing fee that are in violation of NY ADC Law 19-169 Removal of vehicles parked in front of a private driveway. The location where the vehicle was retrieved from at [redacted] did not have any sign as for towing fees or towing company information. I woldl like this to be further investigated since I'm sure there are many others that are being charged innapropriately by this companyDesired Settlement: I would like a cash refund from Mark's Automotive Towing Inc. in the amount of no less than $125.00. And I would like for this Company to be investigated as for violating the laws when practicing it's towing business and for unethically charging customers/clients inappropriate fees for their service.
