Never shopping at Martin's again!!!!! service in st Joe Michigan was deplorable 2025.
Purchased 10 lbs of Pollack frozen fish on sale. Froze it immediately when getting home. Couple days later I cooked about 4 lbs. 1/2 hour after con aiming it, I suddenly got really shaky, dizzy, and decided to relax taking warm bath. Suddenly projected vomiting and gusts of diarrhea. Went to emergency room and shaking did not stop. Waiting just short while, They started doing all these blood tests, and found nothing wrong other than eating something that did not agree with me. It had to be the fish. A day later I tried to return the rest of the fish.. They told me, they could not refund the rest of the fish. Perhaps no one else got sick? I shirt left the fish on the counter and left. I guess I should have called health dept? I did not.
I was usually treated very nice at Martins. Old as I am , I believe they normally treat people very nice.
I found the new soda Seviea there, but each and every time I tried returning the cans, this alert popped up store does not handle this brand. I had to go several times to counter to return. the cans which purchased there? They never bothered to update their recycling machine. It has been over six months...
Then purchasing some soup bones, When I opened them they were beyond rotten and had bits of slime green. Returned those. Young girl agreed they were bad. Returned my money.
Have had great promises of being dealt with such niceness normally.
But next time I went, I found big sign in produce purchase of something for 99 cents. Charged $2.99 at register. I walked back to produce and pulled off the sign and showed it to them. Someone forgot to remove the sign now taken off sale. Resolved.
Day before yesterday white mushrooms on sale, mind you big sign. I bought the last three. At register, the woman charged me 1.99. She said I would have to go to register, to get refund, because I already paid. This guy explained to me I had to buy 5 of them in order to get the 99 cent price. I told him they did not have any more, but, he went back and they had refilled the shelves, so I decided to buy 2 more packages to get the deal. Why pay $6.00 for 3 packages, when for $5.00 I could get 5? Done deal.

Then along with this purchase , I purchased some marked down burger. I immediately cook a portion for my 4 beloved poodles. Which I cook for them daily. They would not eat the burgers I made for them. They had unusual nasty smell to them. I do not eat meat much myself. But notice it had like randice taste. I went back to the store with package and receipt. And took the burgers and rest of meat. This guy in back of counter started yelling at me relentless. You are always causing trouble. You come in here constantly. He was like some cross dresser, that suddenly had severe PMS. The manager came and stated he could not refund my money.because meat not in original package, but put in bag into burgers that I froze into patties before I cooked the burgers. They were rancid.
I plan on contacting health dept. And dept of agriculture on culturing this product.
I am 76, I was business owner for 45 years, I would never treat people of any age so badly. It's a do unto others, as you would do yourself. I have a very limited income. But the nastiness as the segregation of this employee raged on. I was always overly nice to all people which suddenly in my old age am in shock when all this terrorism of personalities, No excuse for your manager to just stand there and say nothing.
I am deeply offended. I will not go back to that store ever again!

awful experience
we get in the car to realize they gave the wrong meds and when back, waited in line, waited for them to figure out their mistake and then told it would be 30 min, then come back wait in line some more! Martin's in Front Royal, VA has just become disorganized and gross. The bathroom smelled of urine absolutely awful, the people stocking shelves had their carts in the pathway, they have NO Thai peanut sauce .. none at all, and so many things I wanted they were out of... I found some tempeh on another shelf (it looked like it was all gone but one was on the bottom shelf with nothing else like trash.. who knows...and the shelves were a mess. I had to dig to get organic soy it looked like it wasn't there but it was hiding behind other soymilk on the top shelf. Then the mixup with the meds.. there were 6 people in the pharmacy. It was dirty, disorganized and disgusting.. the cashier was pleasant so a saving grace ..but I will not be back.

Unable to login to Martins on-line account
I have been unable to login to my Martins on-line account for several weeks. I have reported the issue numerous times and been told IT is working the issue as a maintenance problem with the website. Cannot down e-coupons, monitor the status of my account or take advantage of specials only offered on-line. I have lost 100's of points that make going to Martins a desirable location for my food shopping.

Review: My daughter went to Martin's in Williamsburg, VA on Sunday April 19th to purchase her groceries. She is a student at [redacted], and cooks her own food due to gluten and health issues. She swiped her credit/debit card and the computer indicated that transaction was unavailable. She tried again, and same response. Fearful that someone had stolen her card and wiped out her account, she checked her balance on line. The $100.61 transaction was deducted from her account twice, even though the computer indicated the transaction was unavailable. She went to an ATM, withdrew cash and paid her groceries. She went to the store the next day and filed a report. She learned that this had happened to many people, and it should be resolved shortly. After over two weeks, nothing has been resolved, we have had to go to our bank and file a dispute on the charges. We have spoken with the district manager, who indicated the problem was with their third party credit card processor ( not our issue) and that the money was refunded to the parent bank on Thursday or Friday April 23 or 24, and should end up back in her account by April 29. It never happened. Martin's still claims the problem is with their third party vendor, and they are waiting for it to be fixed. It's now over two weeks, and nothing has happened. I called the store, and the manager claimed no knowledge of this, yet when pressed, they asked my daughter to come in and get the cash. That would really screw things up, with our bank now having to dispute the charge. I feel real bad for the person that can't pay their rent or bills because of this flawed system.Desired Settlement: Martins needs to redeposit the money into my daughters account immediately.

Business

Response:

We apologize that the customer was double billed due to a systems issue with our credit card processing company, [redacted], who has since reached out to the customer and assured him that this issue is being resolved expeditiously.

Response:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Three weeks. It took three weeks for Martin's to move and get their third party to credit my daughters account for their error. They continued to try to claim that it was the responsibility of the third party. We did not shop at the third party retail outlet. we shopped at Martins, and they should not be permitted to hold a customers money for that length of time. We will not shop at Martin's in the future, or it's affiliated ahold stores. Customers beware of shopping at this store.

Regards,

Review: I was at the rising sun martins earlier this week to buy steaks and they were supposedly on sale buy one get one free. I purchased some and later today when I went to marinate them I found that about 1/4 of the steak was fat. They left it right on the bottom in areas that couldnt be seen from the packaging. It was clearly left there to cost more and not for flavor. Some areas were almost an inch thick of fat and I am disgusted with this kind of practice to get more money from people.Desired Settlement: I either want a partial refund for the 1/2 lb of fat that was on these two 1lb steaks or a replacement package of steaks. I can send pictures of this fat if you would like to see how this was done

Review: The advertisement read giant [redacted] turkey $00.49/lb, with bonus card and$25.00 purchase, not including price of the turkey. My purchase included beer, cashier stated beer purchase does not qualify . Therefore I did not qualify for turkey. No where in the advertisement did it state excludes alcohol.Desired Settlement: Honor the advertisement.

Business

Response:

I called and spoke to the customer. The stores did have signage up in the meat department (near the turkey displays) with the exceptions to the $25 purchase. I apologized to the customer for the confusion and offered her a $10 gift card for the confusion. She will pick the gift card up Friday 11/21/14 from the [redacted] store. She was happy with this resolution.
