Drawer 1508Santa Fe, NM 87504-1508Re: Complaint by [redacted] & [redacted] Dated March 15, 2017To whom it may concern:This letter is a response to the complaint referred to above, a copy of which was received by us on April 3, 2017. The issues involve two contracts between the parties, one dated April 30, 2016, for a custom bookcase ($5,000 plus tax), and the second dated September 11, 2016, for cabinets and related work ($21,069,00 plus tax). It should be noted that the work was unilaterally terminated by the [redacted]s on December 5, 2016.The disputes raised by the [redacted]s are primarily two, the percent of work completed by us at the time of the termination and the quality of the work that was completed.  As to the first contract (the bookcase), it is our position that the job was at least 98% completed at the time of the improper termination of the contract,with material, labor and taxes totaling $5,258.31. It is our position that the materials and labor, through the date of the termination, plus taxes totaled at least $1,502.00. As to the quality of the workmanship, it is our position that the work was of superior quality.Subtracting the amounts described in the preceding paragraph from the amounts paid by the [redacted]s ($9,197.50) a refund was offered by us in theamount of $2,400 in the week following December 5, 2016 for the complete resolution of this matter which the [redacted]s have refused to accept. The [redacted]s then placed highly unfavorable reviews with Angie’s List, the Revdex.com and your office as well, stating allegations of theft when the work wasbeing done in good faith at the time of the improper termination of work. If the [redacted]s continue to refuse to settle this dispute and file suit against us, we will have no choice but to counterclaim for our lost profits on the unilateral breach of contract by the [redacted]s, the damages of which will far exceed the $2,400.00 refund that was offered.Further, if Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] continue to disparage our reputation with the inflammatory statements in complaints made to your office, the Revdex.com, Angie’s List or any other agency or organization, we will seek damages for those actions.  By a copy of this letter to the [redacted]s and to the Albuquerque BetterBusiness Bureau, we are advising them of our positions described above in this letter.If you need additional information, please contact us at the followingaddress:[redacted].Attorneys and Counselors at Law[redacted]Sincerely,Masterworks In Wood, LLCBy: _______________________________ Date _____________. It’s Managing Member
