my 96 yar old Mom was in a retirement home in Richmond Hill for 3 weeks, In that time theyneglected to order and give her the eye drops for glaucoma. I t was just by accident that I found out. The director said they had reported themselves to Retirement Home Regulatory Authority. I didn't really believe them but I let it slide. One wk later I come to pick her up to go see a better retirement home and I notice her walk is unsafe as only one handle was secured. My sister in law said she was like that on the Sunday and it was now Thursday. In 5 days no on fixed it putting her at risk for another broken hip.. The decision was made to move her to [redacted] run by [redacted]. I had to have he accessed by her doctor before she could move in so I went to pick her up and they said my mom had just got bck from exercise class. That was a lie as when I walked in her room she was on the bed burning with fever and unable to speak her throat was so swollen and sore. Her temp was 104 degrees They would not give her tylenol without a doctors note and doctor was not available until the next day. Even if they got the script from the doctor he would still have to wait until the next day as their pharmacy had to order it. . They were going to push liquids and put a cold cloth n her and that was that. I had a brand new bottle they would not accept. I had no choice but to call an ambulance company to go pick her up and bring her home that very night. The stress was immense. I found MavenCare on the net and gave them a call. That was very perceptive of him as I suffer from a major anxiety disorder.. All the care givers have given my Mom the best of care and at the same time babysat me.It is so easy to have almost instant rapport with them.. To date I have met 5 care givers. Each and everyone of them were amazing!. . I strongly advise that if you are looking for care for your elderly parent that you consider Mavencare. Do yourselves a favour and do not be fooled by big glamourous retirement homes. When the sales pitch has ended and you have signed on the dotted line the masks come off and what you see is not very pretty. There are so many hidden costs you would not believe it. The residents are all but ignored.. This does not apply to all Seniors residences but it applies to all that belong to a particular chain.. I was in a huge mess with my Mom and Maven Care came to our rescue. ASAP.. The communication between the workers and management is flawless. The company (in my case Justin) touch base with you every day. They try to work out a schedule that is good for all. I would not be writing this right now If I was looking after my Mom by myself. I would be in way over my head. The picture perfect seniors residence is just a facade, Maven Care is the real deal.If you are looking to keep someone at home please call Mavencare.
