Max's Auto Sales Reviews (3)

Review: I Purchased a car from max's auto sales in march of 2013. I was completely aware that the car was used however there were some issues with the car that did not become evident until and few days after the purchase. First, when I test drove the car everything was great! So it led me to believe that this was the car of my choice. Also when I test drove the car, the gas meter said that it had a full tank of gas. So I went back the very next day, to complete the deal and drove the car off of the lot. When I got into the car on the second day, the gas light was on meaning that I needed to get gas. I thought that was strange because the previous day the tank was full. I didn't think that they used all of the gas in the car that fast, so I went back a few days later to speak with the sales person that sold me the car about this issue. I was told my him that I have what is called a "floating gas meter". I am a female, and I don't know too much about cars, but I knew that this could not be right. Basically the gas reader on the inside of the car does not tell the true amount of gas that is in the car. I can put $5 in the tank, and it will move the needle all the way up to full, and I do not know when I need to get gas until I drive it for a while and then the needle drops all the way to "E" and then the gas light comes on. I then took it to a mechanic and told him what the salesman said and the mechanic said that there is no such thing that is normal and that there is a reason why the gas meter does this. Oh and by the after diving it for a few weeks after buying the "service engine soon" light came on. The mechanic did a diagnostic test and found out that the car needed a whole new fuel system which would fix the "service engine" light and will fix the gas meter issue because the test showed that there was a hole or something in the fuel line. This problem was gonna cost me about $500 to fix about a month after I put down $3800 dollars for the purchase of the car. This was not the full purchase price of the car, but I agreed to pay $150 every two weeks until January 3, 2014 and the car would be fully paid for. A few more months went by and then more issues car up with the car. Issues that would not have been noticed until after driving the car for some time. However I still followed my agreement to pay the $150 every two weeks because I signed the contract to do so. In July of 2013,I was out of the city for a week on vacation and I forgot to call them to tell them to take my $150 payment. I would also like to mention that this company required me to call them every two weeks to tell them to take my payment because they said they could not do automatic debits from my account for their own specific reasons. So when I returned back to the city, and I saw that the payment never came out for that week, I immediately called them to take the payment. I was aware that there was a $50 dollar late payment fee which I assumed would be added on the the balance that I owed them. So I resumed business as usual and continued to call in every two weeks to make my payments. Last month, When I called to make my payment I decided to inquire about the balance that I owed on the car, because I was keeping a record as well, and I had that I only owed about $850. However the lady told me My balance was $350 dollars more! I asked her to explain this to me and come to find out, they were charging me a $50 late fee ever since July! That was two $50 every month! The way they did it was when I missed that one payment in July, when I called them for the next one they were applying it to the previous payment that was missed sore even though I was calling on the right day that it was due, they were not applying it to the day that I was calling on. For example July 12, 2013 was the payment that was missed so when I called on July 26, 2013, they applied that payment to July 12,2013 so it looked like I was late for July 26, 2013 which charged an additional $50 and when I called August 2,2013 they applied that to July 26, 2013, which made it like I was late for August 2nd payment which charged another $50 late fee and so on and so forth. I was never never aware that this is how they do it because if this was the case, I would have gotten $300 together to pay for my next payment to avoid all of these $50 fees. I was very upset especially because I now had all these issues with the car that I had to dish out money for because the warranty on the car coincidentally did not cover any of the issues. I was also upset because the lady that I talked with who told me about these $50 fees was very rude and the late fee policy was not explained correctly. I feel that this policy is designed to get over on people and it was not brought to my attention until I had racked up $350 in late fees all for a $150 payment. I will NEVER do any type of business with this company at all and I will make sure to tell everyone that I know to stay away from these criminals. The salesman from the beginning knew about the gas tank issues with the car but he neglected to tell me and in turn this one issue with the gas tank caused many other issues with the car which resulted in about $1000 in repairs that need to be done.Desired Settlement: I would like for at least those late fees to be reversed and I would also like for the repairs that I already had done at [redacted], Which I have receipts for, to be deducted from my balance on the car. I believe that they fixed the car up to look good so that it can be sold and then after driving it for a while, all the things the tried to fix up started being revealed.

On March 2, 2013 [redacted] purchased the 2004 Buick Lesabre on a BUY HERE, PAY HERE deal. Max’s Auto Sales provides customers with poor credit the opportunity to own a vehicle regardless of their past credit history issues. **. [redacted] was unable to get a loan from the bank that she is employed by and uses for personal banking, and only had enough down to be put on a payment plan. The buy here pay here plan that we provide does not charge interest fees, which is in favor of the customer. The amount that **. [redacted] purchased the vehicle for does not change unless she misses a payment or is late on a payment. Payments are supposed to be made in person, hence the name, buy here pay here. However, we also accept credit card payments over the phone, mailed in money orders, or checks. There are many different options to make a payment on time. Max’s Auto Sales is a small privately owned business, therefore we require our buy here pay here customers to call in their payment if they are unable to come in person. However, most vehicle sales corporations require a similar approach such as an automated payment system for the customer to call and make their payments. At Max’s Auto Sales we do not have the luxury of that type of system; however, if we are not available the customer may leave a voicemail or send an email. It is the customers responsibility to make payments on the correct scheduled due dates, as explained in person on the day of purchasing the vehicle. We also provide the customer with a contract to sign that explains how late fees are assessed.

Review: I purchased vehicle from them and [redacted] lied about condition of car. I asked him about dings, scratches, scuffs, and dents imperfections to the car. he said excellent condition he mentioned one crack on bumper and when I received the car bird excrete all over the hood, trunk, and roof. The bird excrete has uric acid that eat thru clear coat and paint. Only way to fix is to paint the car. The damage is over $1800 to $2500 dollars from different body shops. Also the scratch/dent/scuff and driver and door and rear driver side door. This basically will hide or say anything make sale. Never trust him because they sell salvage and fixed car all there cars have imperfections. Its says on there website also. They will cheat you by telling false descriptions. If he told about condition of the paint I would never bought the car and the pictures on his website hid all the imperfections.Desired Settlement: Pay for the cost to fix damage of the Bird excrete on the hood, roof, and trunk.

This vehicle was

purchased here at our dealership by [redacted], a representative/owner of [redacted]

[redacted]s. The purchaser, [redacted]s

then sold the vehicle to [redacted] whom has submitted this complaint.

The purchaser,

[redacted] from Sayrat [redacted]s was [redacted]’s broker, which came out and

inspected the vehicle for **. [redacted] and then took a 10 hour drive back

to North Carolina with the vehicle.

We have

supporting documents that include our text messages between the purchaser prior

to his arrival in Philadelphia about the condition of the vehicle, along with pictures of the true condition . When [redacted]

[redacted] from [redacted]s arrived at our facility he was in communication over

the phone with **. [redacted]. [redacted]

[redacted] even took pictures with his phone and forwarded them over to **. [redacted]

[redacted]. Any problems with the vehicle

that **. [redacted] is stating there was, would have been visible to [redacted]

[redacted] whom pursued to finalize the deal.

The vehicle was sold as is where is with the purchaser being

present. If [redacted] saw any major deficiencies

or imperfections other than what our salesman [redacted] disclosed to him, as [redacted] is stating, than he had a

choice to not purchase the vehicle. **.

[redacted]’s visit was not a breeze, he was at our facility for a substantial

amount of time during evening hours where there was enough sun light to inspect

the vehicle so that it was up to **. [redacted] from [redacted]’s standards.

Furturemore, the

2007 Lexus was listed for $19,995.00, after negotiating and discussing the

condition of the vehicle the agreed sale price was for $18,000.00. After negotiations have already been completed and agreed to at $18,000. [redacted] was still short on his end by $400 and had asked to split the difference. Which we agreed to; once [redacted] was here [redacted] tried to negotiate again, but we were not able to reduce the price any lower. We have made many accommodations during this

sale with the price, picking the purchaser up from the airport, and tending to

the purchaser after business hours the day of the purchase, and not because we

have to but because we like to make the customer feel welcomed and comfortable

during their transaction.

Max’s Auto Sales

does not hide nor do we not disclose information that is clearly visible. We also encourage buyers to have INSPECT MY

RIDE come out to be a second eye for customers who are purchasing over the

internet. In this case the purchaser

chose to come down himself. We are a

reputable small business that strives for greatness, not disparage.

Response:

I have attached the transaction paperwork, stating clearly whom Max's Auto Sales sold the vehicle to. On last assignment it states Max's Auto sold the vehicle to [redacted] signed by **. *. [redacted]. I also have the vehicle dealer license copy, along with the signers drivers license.

*. [redacted] was the reprensentitve from [redacted]s, which did in fact fly out to view the vehicle. *. [redacted], as your broker, as you stated before, should have he not found the vehicle up to his and your standards, should have not purchased the vehicle.

As I said before, Max's Auto Sales has no reason to lie. We strive for greatness.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I [redacted] made the deal with [redacted] I have emails and text messages to show and prove and they also knew [redacted] was only picking up the car for me. They took advantage knowing [redacted] was a dealer made him put car under his name. I have attached deposit agreement and also the cashier check that has my name showing I paid Max Auto Sales. I paid them $14,000.00 cashier check and $3300 cash and $500 on my credit card which I have attached credit card agreement and cashier check I can also send my credit card statement if it need be. The seller seems to be trying to get out of responsibility of bird excrete all over the hood, roof, and trunk. They bird excrete has damaged the clear and paint. It has ate thru the clear coat and paint. He purposely made [redacted] put car under his name. He knew [redacted] had dealer license and he said it would be better. Fact of the matter is they know I paid for car and made the deal. [redacted] was just there drive car back to be for me has transporter. Be responsible business and work agreement to have vehicle fixed. I am flexible on what agreement we make.

Business

Response:

First and foremost, if you are recanting that [redacted] was your broker, and now stating that he was only your transporter, than provide me with a signed bill of lading your transporter by state law is supposed to have filled out. This bill of lading should have his signature for pick up, as well as our signature for releasing the vehicle to him, along with any damages that are visible on the vehicle marked off. You can not provide that for Max's or the Revdex.com because he was not your transporter. Furthermore, Max's will remind you why you put the vehicle in not your broker, or transporters name, but friends name that you do business with. The reason why is because we did not want to negotiate a lower price which you wanted to purchase the vehicle for. Max's Auto Sales would like to remind you now how you came up with the idea of putting it into [redacted]'s company name. The first reason why you chose to put it in your "brokers" name, which come to find out is your friend; reason one being that you requested Max's Auto to write up a lower bill of sale for tax purposes. Max's Auto denied your request, which brings us to reason number two. You, [redacted], stated you will get a broker, whom is a dealer so that you do not have to pay sales tax, and or when you do want to register the vehicle, your broker will write up a lower bill of sale for you so that you can pay a lower sales tax.

Review: I purchased a 2008 Range Rover Sport HSE through [redacted] at Max Auto. He stated car was in like-new condition and there were no issues what so ever with the car. Upon delivery of the car, there were numerous issues: front bumper completely scratched, under carriage damaged and rubbing into drive shaft and the internal wiper arm on the steering wheel was crazy glued and broke on first use. I shared all of the pictures of the damages and brought all of these issues to the attention of [redacted] and tried to resolve in an amicable manner. He stated that the car left the showroom in good condition and refused to assist any further. Dealership seemed honest and trust worthy upfront but unfortunately this transaction proved otherwise. I had to pay roughly 1200.00 to repair the car and I only asked they cover half the expenses. They lost a long-term customer over 600.00.

International buyers please take your business elsewhere or at the minimum have an independent resource verify visual and operational condition of the car before jumping into a purchase agreement.Desired Settlement: I didn't even ask for a full refund but tried to resolve the matter amicably before escalating it. I paid 350 to have bumper repaired, 600 for undercarriage repair and 250 for wiper steering wheel replacement. Only asked they cover half the expenses, 600, and consider the issue resolved.

Consumer

Response:

Please find attached the five pictures of the damages that were requested. The car was shipped via [redacted] and these damages were existent before the car was shipped. You can tell by the bumper as the damage is sporadic and all over. Also the insider wiper controls on the steering clearly show the part was glued together.
