Memphis Lock & Key Reviews (3)

The price quoted over the phone was $29 a door for two doors to repair plus a $25 service fee. The service technician only repaired one door for $200The serviceman tried to get me to pay $400 and didn't fix the issue with the door. He demanded $200 and did not give me a receipt. He overcharged me when I was quoted $29 a door plus $25 service fee.Desired SettlementI want to ne refunded and only charged $29 for one door fixed plus a service fee of $25.

Called Memphis Lock for a price quote to rekey two locks on a home resident. Received the quote and informed the company that I would call them back. Called Memphis Lock Company on Wednesday Jan 20, 2016 and received a quote to rekey two locks at a new resident purchased by my daughter. Received the quote and informed the company representative that I would call them back. Called another company, AAA Locks and agreed to use that company to rekey the locks. On the morning of Jan22, 2016 I received a call from a man stating he was with the lock company and said he was on the way to the house. I gave him my daughter's phone number and she later called and informed me that the locksmith was at the house. A short time later I got another call from a different locksmith and he said he was on the way to the house. I learned that this was this locksmith from AAA, the company that I had hired and the first locksmith was sent from Memphis Lock, the company I had talked to the first time. I told the locksmith from AAA to go on to the resident and I met him there. I had the locks rekeyed again after I found out what the locksmith from Memphis Lock had done and charged. When the locksmith from Memphis Lock arrived, she asked if he was from AAA and he informed her that he was a contract locksmith and she allowed him to do the work. The original quote from Memphis lock was $25.00 service call fee, $10.00 a cylinder and $2.00 a key. He informed her of a $45.00 charge and she paid with a credit card. After he left she noticed the bill was for $538.46. He charged $25.00 for a service call, $356.00 for 4 lock cylinders, $116.00 for labor and, $44.46 tax. I called the locksmith and he said that was the cost of the bill. I informed him that I didn't even hire him or his company and all he could say was that he was sent by the lock company and I could take it up with them. The locksmith from AAA said he changed two cylinders and they looked old. The two cylinders he said he changed had not been changed, but the cylinder pins had been filed down to make a Kwikset key fit a Marks lock. The locksmith from Memphis Lock said he was contracted and that he worked for 24/7 Locksmith's. The invoice has speedy locksmith on it.Desired SettlementI feel that I was misrepresented by Memphis Lock and they should not have even called me back or much less show up at my daughters residents. While the locksmith that Memphis Lock contracted out did call me on the morning of the 22nd, I assumed he was from AAA, since that is the company that I gave the go ahead to do the job. The locksmith from Memphis Lock misrepresented AAA Lock by saying he was contracted out to do the lock cylinder change. I would like the charges credited back to my daughters account.

My repair was not done properly; based on the initial quote, I was overcharged; and when I was hung up on when asked about the overcharges. I called Memphis Lock and Key regarding repairing the deadbolt on my back door. I was told that the service charge would be $25.00 and $50 or 55 dollars for the deadbolt. I know the person said $50. I agreed with this price and asked her to send someone over. The repair person came over and said that he was going to repair the lock, and then he decided to replace it. Which was alright with me. When I attempted to pay him, he said the company did not accept checks. I suggested paying buy card, and he said he did not want to use his machine because he would be charged a fee for using it. Then he followed me to the bank, I cashed a check, and paid him cash. The next day the lock did not work, so I called to company to report this. A male said he would contact the repair man and him to call me, in which he did. I called again and asked a young lady why was I charged $125.00 for the deadbolt when it only cost $55.00. I looked it up online. She asked how much did the repair man charge me, and I told her $200.00. She said, your file is not closed, I don't want to hear anything you have to say until it is closed and hung up the phone. She did not address my complaint.Desired SettlementI would like for the deadbolt to be fixed properly. I am requesting that I be reimbursed $120.00, $50 work fees and $70 for deadbolt overcharges. I would like for the company to reimburse these overcharges immediately because I am retired and living on a fixed income. I would also like for this complaint to be permanently reflected on your website for this company.
