purchased a computer brought it in to fix the charger port charged me 171.00 .When I got it back IT DID NOT CHARGE AT ALL I [redacted] purchased a used dell laptop computer from mendon comp. outlet back in nov 2012 despite I was on a payment plan and it took me some monthes to pay it off it costed me 500.00 dollars it has some screen glitches where the screen turns on all distorted they told me it was a loose wire problem still exists. So I brought it in to have the charging port fixed because something happend to it where it needed to be replaced ,so they fixed it for 171.00 the guy named [redacted] took a pic of one of the chips on the mother board and told me it looked like something was spilled on it I replied not while I owned it so he told me the chip was for the wireless adapter card and it should be shiny and silver but he got on the internet so everything is fine .Well when I got home and after charging the comp. when I unplugged the charger it simply shut off and NOW WONT HOLD A CHARGE WHEN IT DID BEFORE THEY SUPPOSENLLY FIXED THE CHARGER PORT. I called them and brought it in now the man [redacted] is telling me that it could be the microchip that was spoke about I said you told me that chip was for the wireless adapter card and I get on line just fine it just isnt charging up and I have to use it plugged in all the time he said well stuff happens [redacted] thats what happens when u buy a used computer and you need to buy a battery really.they didnt offer to fix it I believed they did something that is not making it charge the battery whether they shorted something out or didnt connect the charger port correctly its funny how that was replaced but now the computer doesnt even charge when it did before I brought it in for a simple connecter to be replaced I feel I got scammed from day one selling me a defective computer and then lying to me making up stuff like first the chip that looked bad was for the wireless adapter card and now that its broke its for that I dont think so they frauded me and when u bring something in to be fixed it shouldnt come back worse THE COMPUTER WONT EVEN CHARGE NOW AND THEY SUPPOSENLY FIXED THE CHARGING PORT. they told me a line of [redacted] and now I have a comp. that was overpriced for the service and working cond of the machine I purchased .mendon computer outlets service was a 2 on a scale of 1 to 100 the two guys names are [redacted] And [redacted] looking back its funny how they made every exuse to say it was something else or that its a used comp I would never recomend anybody ever goes there to purchase anything total rip offs and no customer service skills more like bullys that didnt offer any explaination except go buy a battery ..Desired Settlementi would expect at least half of the 171.00 back as the job to fix the chargerport was unsuccessful and came back unable to charge how is that when it charged fine before and the chargerport was replaced it went in to fix the chargerport so I can charge it so what exactly did I pay for because now it doesnt even charge I will seek litigation in sm claims court if need be. Thank You [redacted] L. [redacted]Business Response RE: Case # XXXXXX: Mr. [redacted]In response to the letter Mr. [redacted] sent, To begin with he came to our store without any money, a relative to [redacted]'s wife cousin, asking for us to trust him on a purchase of a laptop. The agreement was he would pay the laptop off in three (3) months. It ended up taking over a year for him to pay it off. Our used equipment has a 90 day warranty. Neither I ([redacted]) or [redacted] recall him telling us of a screen issue during the whole year he made payments. Mr. [redacted] came in with the laptop months after it being paid off to tell us it would not power up, we noticed the power jack had been broken, the enter center was gone, just revealing three copper contacts. He claims when he after his apartment in N.Y. it was setting plugged in and charging. When he returned sometime later the power cord was hanging there from the laptop but was very loose. Doesn't know what happen while he was gone. We told we could check it out and let him know what we find. A couple days later it was checked and the above was found, broken center of the AC power jack. Our policy is, one hundred dollars ($100) down to take the unit apart and put it back together. Once the damage is known and the cost to replace the work would be done and the owner pays the difference remaining on the repair for parts and time. It took him one and a half months (90+ days)to bring in the one hundred dollars ($100) to begin the repair process. The process was started without any issues or problems, once the main board was removed, it was apparent that there had been some form of liquid spilled that had reached the main board and in that area was a micro chip that was discolored near the wireless Ethernet card slot. A photo was taken of it, and shown the customer when he came in the pick up the laptop. I ([redacted]) told [redacted] what I thought was that it was near the network card and I thought it might have affected the device only to find it still is working once the system was back together. I know my work was done right and the unit ran without a battery installed in the unit and all the contacts Ohmed out good. Did it get damaged when the AC power cord was inserted into the three bared copper contacts before we seen it we don't know. We told him we think it might be just the battery is bad or damaged and needs to be replaced. He paid for the AC jack to be replaced, that is what was done. We told him up front what would be done and he agreed to it, the work was done professionally and the system does now work while plugged into the wall outlet. When he brought it in, it did not work at all. We are sorry he feels ripped off, we provide serves with pride and honor.

I have dealt with Mendon Computer Outlet for well over 22 years. I've bought new and used computers from them as well as having repairs done by them. Never have I been dissapointed with any of my dealings with these people. I find them to be very fair in their prices and their repair work is excellent. I would not hesitate to go back to them for any of my computer needs and I also have told many people about their business. I trust them with all of my computers.
