We have contacted the delivery driver and he emphatically stressed he did follow the standard procedures at the time of delivery He claims Mr*** did check off the inventories and signed off on them at the time of delivery making no exceptions to any missing item He also denies Mr***'s allegation he just put the last several items in the home and told Mr*** everything is here Mr*** was contacted at the time of delivery by our coordinator and did not inform us he was concerned that anything might be missing from his shipment or he was not comfortable with signing off on the delivery Had he mentioned this to our coordinator, he would have been advised not to sign off until he was assured everything was delivered Notifying us a week after delivery left us no alternative other than to perform a trace by contacting the driver and other customers whose shipments may have accompanied Mr***'s on the same van As previously mentioned, our trace came up negative The fact that Mr*** has been a customer of United Van Lines previously does not substantiate paying him $2,for the alleged missing carton as there is no evidence of wrongdoing on our part

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: Management failed to address the fact that the driver did not follow policy and protocol according to the minimal standards of the company /industry requirementsAs the driver appeared to be in a hurry as the delivery of last several items were placed into the apartment he did not repeat the inventory numbers as he previously did but rather told us that all items.have been accounted for and asked to have the unchecked items signed off without verificationGiven that I have used United in San Diego more than times and never had any material issues, I trusted the driver for his words. Once I determined that I was missing a box I called ScottF*, relocation consultant at Mesa Moving and Storage and Dave Y***, consultant at United *** in San DiegoBoth were dismayed that the driver did not insist that I independently verify the remaining items and failed to provide me with copies of any of the documents, including inventory list and Bill of Lading which I ultimately received from the Boise office several weeks laterNeither of these issues were addressed by their response.Sincerely,*** ***Hi Teresa,***, here is what I sent.Hi Teresa,I’m writing to ask you to re-examine a claim denial for a long time customer of United named *** ***My agency, *** ***, has done moving for Mr***, a bank president here in San Diego, for 25+ yearsWe moved him to Boise a few years back, and I entrusted his return move to Scott F* at Agent 477, so he would get the benefit of a strong origin service agent coming back to San Diego.Apparently, this large shipment was G-11ed to the warehouseThe delivery was days past the pad date, but I don’t think the customer filed a late claimI think the driver was from AActionHe gave the customer the bums rush during the deliveryHe was in a god-awful hurry to get the shipment off, and he kind of bullied the adult daughter, who was checking off the numbersDriver LEFT THE CUSTOMER NO PAPERWORK, not copies of the inventory or bill of lading, or anythingAccording to the customer "At the end he told my daughter that items that were not checked off were brought inHe then asked my daughter to check them off without validating those remaining itemsAs I said he was in a hurry to leaveHe did not leave me with any of the documents.” A little backgroundMr ***’s first wife died in an accident when the kids were littleI first moved him shortly after, and subsequently *** moved him 6-times throughout his careerI only bring this up because the missing dish pack was full of crystal and china that the deceased mother left for her daughtersMr*** has referred many people to us, always a big fan of our serviceOver the years we damaged a few things, but he has never once filed a claimNow he has a legitimate claim, and I feel like we are not acting in good faithObviously this dish pack got loaded at residence, but somehow didn’t make it to destinationThe driver seems not to have followed a "customer friendly" protocol, and took all the paperwork with him when he leftNow we are telling the customer that he checked it off, so case closed.I’m copying Rick S***, our principal, and Kevin H***, as well as Scott the bookerKevin, Annette L*** was my coordinator at *** a while back, and I know she worked with you early onI would normally not get involved in a claim situation, but I feel like this is a special case that merits another lookThanks everyone for your help.Dave Y***Serving our customers since - Years!Mobile 858-220-1071Fax 858-367-8964***@***lSincerely,*** ***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:the driver is not willing to admit his actions that has led to this dispute. He has misled management of his conduct which includes not providing me with the signed documents.I did inform Scott F[redacted] the same day of the missing item.I truly believe the driver is not being true to what actually occurred.I have no other option other than to file with the Small Claims Court in San Diego to collect what I am entitled to.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

On 12/19/2016 Mesa Moving inventoried and picked up Mr. [redacted]'s goods from his residence in Eagle, Idaho for transport to our warehouse.  The shipment was subsequently picked up from our warehouse by a long distance driver for transport to California.   On 1/19/2017 the shipment was...

delivered to two destinations at Mr. [redacted]'s request.  The inventories were presented to Mr. [redacted] by the delivering driver for check off to assure all items were delivered.  According to the inventories, Mr. [redacted] checked off each item delivered and made no notations of any items missing.  On 1/25/2017 Mr. [redacted] notified our office he was missing a carton of crystal.  As customary, we immediately issued a trace for the missing carton.  The trace came back negative.  Based on the documents we provided to Mr. [redacted] all items tendered to us at origin were delivered to him at two different locations in California.  These documents indicate Mr. [redacted] checked off the shipment at destination and signed that all items were received.  Therefore, United Van Lines respectfully denied liability for the alleged missing carton.
