I want to apologize for the poor experience you had in my store. I find it unacceptable that you were put in a situation where you left my store dissatisfied, and exceptionally problematic that you felt mistreated by my staff. Our sales staff is supposed to be there to assist you by courteously...

presenting you with the best options available and offer their professional advice in an attempt to address your needs. I talked with [redacted] about what happened. You came to our store wishing to exchange a pair of size 9 1/2 Wide shoes you had purchased from us for a pair that fit better. You stated that you had tried on the pair you were returning at home and that you believed they were too short. The style you were returning was an very appropriate style for your needs and since you wanted a size that would give you more length, our salesman [redacted] brought out the same style in the next half size larger, a size 10 Wide. After trying on this pair you felt they were too big. He suggested that the looseness you felt could be solved by trying the size 10 but in the slightly narrower “Medium” width, for that may give you a more secure fit. You did not want to try on the Medium width, insisting that because you only wore Wides it would be inappropriate. Your reluctance to trying on this alternative size, which was the only logical alternative to addressing the looseness you were experiencing, essentially brought to a close our attempts to get you a proper fit in the shoe you wanted. It contradicted your desire to get a shoe that was larger but not too large. It also stymied [redacted]’s attempt to make available to you all possible options. Although this created a frustrating situation for him, I do not find it acceptable to let that frustration be vented towards you. It is clear that in your case we did not live up to your expectations and both [redacted] and I are sorry. It was [redacted]’s intentions to assist you and offer his advice, not his intention to make you feel uncomfortable or make a scene. You are correct, the customer is always right. It’s your hard earned money. You have every right to accept or decline our suggestions and advice, and we should always respectfully honor your choices.
